We recently connected with Kira Young and have shared our conversation below.
Kira, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you tell us the backstory behind how you came up with the idea?
Social media and the popularity of TV shows have taken home design and decorating into a new era. Sources become more available to the public and because of that there are so many options to choose from. This can get very overwhelming and I see the desire for specific design services that cater to the client’s needs.
“Sometimes it’s not a full-service design but a few smaller important decisions to complete the project.”
At High Tide Design, we offer a service called “A La Carte ” Think of it as a magic wand between the clients and their goals. With this offer, we individualize services to cater toward a project’s specific needs, for example; construction drafting packages provide our clients a blueprint so they can build for the project. 2D, 3D Modeling or Realistic Rendering offer our clients clarity and visualization so they can see the outcome to help them move forward. No project is one size fits all and we are here to help along each process.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Tell our readers about yourself
Hi, my name is Kira, a certified Interior Designer based in Carlsbad, CA. I am the founder and creator behind High Tide Design. Since I was a little girl, I have always enjoyed painting, rearranging furniture and accessories to express my creativity. As I got older I added collecting art and passionately hunted for treasures. I would always picture what a space could be if I were to design it. Naturally, that led me into pursuing a career in design.
In my free time, I enjoy traveling, inspirational getaways and being active. I am always seeking new coffee shops, trying new restaurants and expressing my creative sides through art. Most important of all, I love spending time with my loved ones.
How did you get into your industry / business?
I knew I wanted to be an Interior Designer and have my own design studio one day. My path started as soon as I applied for the interior design program at Mesa College. My first job was a furniture sales associate where I learned all about furniture functionality, style, fabrics and their construction. Later on, I worked as a designer coordinator and got promoted to a designer at a large firm. There, I got my hands on a variety of projects from turning a hoarder basement to a cool co-working space or a sad indoor pool’s bathroom to a fun creative kid’s club. Besides working on big renovations, I am also an expert on staging homes for sale.
After years of working as a residential designer as a side hustle; and the opportunity has presented itself, High Tide Design became a full-time business.
What type of products/services/creative works do you provide?
High Tide Design offers full-service design, specializing in residential and boutique commercials. We can assist with a wide range of projects including, architectural details and finishes, space planning, furniture layout, furnishing and styling, storage solutions and photoshoot styling. Even though our office is in Carlsbad, CA we do offer remote assistance via virtual design and have taken our project beyond the county line.
Our work provides curated meaningful design inspired by California living that is beautiful, liveable and functional. It is crafted for the clients and their lifestyle.
What problems do you solve for your clients?
Being an interior designer means you have a great set of eyes and can visualize things beyond anyone’s imagination. I can rearrange furniture and accessories and plot a new kitchen layout in my head while having a casual conversation. My clients trust me to reimagine their spaces based on their needs and their wishes and it is my job to understand their preferences and translate ideas into reality through design.
What are the main things you want potential clients/followers/fans to know about you/your brand/your work/ etc.
In addition to a wonderful sense of style, people say I have a good sense of humor, they love my positive energy and attention to detail are great contributors to my business.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Having repeat clients and referral from previous clients are the best compliments any interior designer could ask for. I have worked with some of my clients for over 7 years to complete multiple projects. I am their go-to designer for their businesses.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Seeing clients love their space, looking forward to “being” in their newly designed space and be proud of where they live is truly an honor and what keeps me going.
