We caught up with the brilliant and insightful King Quice a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
King, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
I have released one project at this point in my career. My island themed EP titled “Lost In Paradise ”. This EP was inspired by Afro-Pop music which I’ve always been a big fan of. Originally I created a record titled “Palm Trees” which incorporated summer time elements within this style of music. My audience really loved this sound and gave me the idea to build on a small project within that genre of music which became “Lost In Paradise”. As of right now I am working on my punk rock EP titled “Shows Over”.
King, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My passion for writing and music composition led to the artist journey I am on now. I have always been fascinated with poetry and the different rhyme schemes that some of my favorite poets would incorporate. I guess I’ve always wanted to be a writer of some sort. I enjoy good books but more importantly a good story. My music has always told stories, some from my perspective but most from others. I feel this is why my music is relatable. I want the listener to feel what I felt in the moments of creating the record, There is always a theme and a message behind my music. I am early in my career but I am very proud of the works I have released, I don’t like the idea of rushing music. Creativity takes time, just like any good book to write or any good movie to shoot.
How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
Appreciate the bravery and courage it takes to release content to the public. Every release is surrounded by subjective views and sometimes for an artist that’s not the easiest pull to swallow.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
I enjoy the emotional connection I have with my audience. Touching hearts and motivating mindsets are what I would consider to be the most rewarding aspects of being an artist.
