King , appreciate you joining us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?

I knew I wanted to make music around 9th grade. I would write verses for other kids, but I also loved basketball. So I think I pursued basketball until I got hurt one last time and decided to try out music. I’m glad I made that choice.

King , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

I go by the name Khali (Kah-lee not Cali) . I went to college at Texas Southern and majored in accounting. I decided to start making music while I attended TSU and met a few great people along the way who’ve helped me make a name for myself all over. I feel like the type of content make separates me from a lot of people. I’m always trying to find a new way to improve I’ve be ahead of the crowd. I have more than a million views in my videos, million streams and a fan base that I love very much. That’s what I’m most proud of. I also have a lot of music I’m planning to drop.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?

Honestly it’s knowing that I have the power to make someone’s day or change someone’s life just by saying what I feel in a song. There’s been a few times where people have stopped me to talk to me and shared that I’ve helped them in life just by talking about what I’ve personally been through. I love it!

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?

I personally like twitter the most and I feel like that where most of my supporters stem from. I don’t use it like the average artist. I really enjoy talking to people and making them laugh. Things like that. So they have direct contact with me that way even if they’ve never met me in person. They see the personal side. It’s not only about music. My advice is to stay consistent with the content but don’t make that the only thing you post about.
