Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to King Judah. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
King, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
It’s said that if you don’t take the risk, you’ll lose the chance. I feel that I’ve lost so many chances at achieving greatness due to internal fears, self doubt, and public opinions. I can assure you that taking risks is a necessary action when looking to elevate in life. When I first relocated to Georgia, I started in the public safety industry. Prior to that, I endured the same lifestyle in New Jersey for close to a decade. Overall, I felt that I was settling in the public safety industry and choosing comfort over self-fulfillment. One of the best decisions I’ve ever made was to resign from my public safety position and pursue a career as an Actor. I attest to this because if I hadn’t been bold enough to make that move, I wouldn’t be as happy as I am now. This industry, although VERY stressful, has brought more joy into my life than I expected.
King, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Greetings world! I pray these words find you well. My name is King Judah. Natively, I am from Newark, New Jersey but I currently reside in Atlanta, Georgia and I’m a professional actor. I first got into the world of acting around the age of 8 where I occasionally took part in staged plays around the community and at church. I continued participating in staged plays while in high school via the Drama Club where it served as my form of solitude away from the stresses of competitive sports. After that, I would take a long hiatus from acting to just live life and indulge in other industries. Ultimately, I would venture back into acting upon moving to Georgia. It was during this time in my life where I didn’t feel spiritually, intellectually, and emotionally fulfilled. Almost instinctively or perhaps through divine intervention, I was drawn back into the performing arts rekindling that youthful flame burning inside of me. It wasn’t until I found myself on the set of a BET+ series called Kingdom Business that I realized THIS IS WHERE I BELONG! With that being said, my best piece of general advice is to DO WHAT YOU LOVE AND SUCCESS WILL FOLLOW SUIT.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect for me as an actor falls within the selection process. When you receive that YES after experiencing so much rejection, there’s a huge sense of gratification knowing that all of your hard work as an actor is not in vain. It also speaks in volumes knowing that there are people who watched your audition/self-tape and decided to trust you with the task of bringing their vision to life.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
I’ve always been a goal-driven person full of passion. so when I truly put my mind to something, I’m biting, scratching and crawling to achieve it despite any setbacks that life throws my way. My father instilled in me that “everyday is another chance to forge a new path in life”. With every chance that I get, I’m looking to make improvements internally to experience true fulfillment. This mindset is what truly drives me not only in my journey as an actor but in life overall.
