We were lucky to catch up with King Golden recently and have shared our conversation below.
King , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
The most meaningful project would probably be my first independent album titled “everything golden”. This album defines who i am the struggles i faced and how I’ve over came them. The ultimate story of perseverance. From parting ways from the label that helped me find my niche and my sound. To going through a divorce and custody battles. To losing jobs and family members. All to place it in my craft and persevere through it all. To be able to tell my story to give life and light in someone else’s. And to give thanks to the most high god that through Jesus christ all things are possible. I’ve learned so much about my faith and the strength that God placed within me through these times in able to come up with this album
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
King golden the hip hop artist is a man of faith that puts God at the head and center of all that he does. There wouldn’t be me without him. I started righting music at a elementary school age which was birth from and actual dream I had of me rapping in front of my classmates. I had a strong passion for the sound of music. As I got older and continued to pursue my dream I faced so many short falls set backs and obstacles. Pushing and overcoming them allowed me to know that anything is possible as long as you keep faith and continue pushing through even though you may not be able to see the end of the tunnel. I create music for those who need hope. I want my music to touch and heal those who need it the most. To spread world wide to those who can’t see there way through life’s struggles. I was born with spinal meningitis. Doctors didn’t think I would make it. I’m now doing this interview 33 years later. I stared death in the face at 19 when my car was riddled with bullet holes with me and my friend in it. 20. I had my first child with no blue print on how to be a father. I continued to try and be the best role model and guidance tool. 2012 i was signed to a label in W palm beach which developed me greatly. But let me go in 2018. Which hurt and i lost hope for a short moment. Only to find new life and new footing in the independent lane. And allowed me to know that god will always provide and is always in control. With me overcoming so much in my life and journey through music. I want others to know they can do the same. Stay consistent and continue to elevate in all that you do.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My biggest goal is to spread GOD love and hope through my story and music. For it to be able to change people’s hearts and minds and allow them to believe in God and themselves that they were made for a great purpose. And they can achieve anything they put their minds to. Faith without works is dead. So as long as they have as little faith as small as a mustered seed. And a little bit of work. Then they can accomplish and over come anything thing in this world.
Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
I wish I wouldev knew about the business side of music a little sooner than what I did. On how to promote my story the correct way and utilize press tools and etc. However I understand that there is a journey. And although I may want things on my time. I found peace and patience in learning the things at the times I need to know it on gods time
