We were lucky to catch up with KIN2God recently and have shared our conversation below.
KIN2God, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
Firstly I want to say thank you to CanvasRebel for the platform and opportunity to share my story today.
Questions like these are something I think on daily to remind myself of why I do what I do.
A few years back when I was only 14 is when my passion for music and artistry grew stronger. I had been in children’s choirs and high school singing groups over the years but never any direct professional training. One of my close childhood friends that ended up going to high school with me gain a passion for song engineering around the same time that my musical passion grew; naturally we decided to try the whole recording thing out.
After about a year of playing around with the idea of a music career, I rededicated my life to Christ and soon learned that Jesus didn’t want to completely change who I was and my passions, but redirect them to spreading something bigger than myself; the Good News and Word of God!
One night I had a dream of myself up on a stage with a team of artists and musicians surrounding me in support as we all performed and worshipped Christ together and when I woke up, I knew that I’d do whatever God needed me to do, so that dream could become a reality.
Since then I have put out Singles, EP’s and I have been blessed enough to be able to collaborate with other up and coming artists such as J-Remy in my latest release “The Invitation”.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I love the depth of this question!
Then main thing I want anyone who stumbles across my work to know is who I represent; Christ Jesus. I wouldn’t be alive today if it weren’t for all the countless times He’s saved my life and kept me sane.
Throughout my work whether it be a project of my own or a commission for others, I try to incorporate the message of Christ which is that God loves us and desires that all accept His son Jesus as Lord and Savior, to repent, and to live for Him! He truly cares for all of us.
Although my main passions stay in the realm of music and performing, I also have a love for photography and graphic design.
Throughout my professional journey, don’t be surprised if you see me creating cover art for other artists or even producing a full fledged photoshoot for other creatives. I just recently launched my own magazine company “FAVORMagazine” which in time will be a collage of different born again creatives sharing their own story and testimony
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding and heartwarming aspect is when I can visually see that something I have made, has helped someone else in some way without my direct influence. If someone pops on one of my songs and is able to relate in some way, then begins to work on themselves for the purpose of their own personal growth or if they decide the want to give Jesus a chance, then my job is done because now that seed has been planted. And overtime it will grow as the seek out the answers; the best place to look is the Bible.
Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
Therapy. Spiritual therapy is much need in our society especially amongst the Christian community because God helps us to overcome and work through our past trauma and experiences, but ultimately sharing those experiences with someone else helps us to release those emotions and could maybe even help someone else in the form of a testimony; someone going through the same situations that need to see that there is in fact a way out.
