Kimone, appreciate you joining us today. One of the things we most admire about small businesses is their ability to diverge from the corporate/industry standard. Is there something that you or your brand do that differs from the industry standard? We’d love to hear about it as well as any stories you might have that illustrate how or why this difference matters.

I started the company in 2019 after experiencing burnout in my own corporate career as an HR professional. In my 10+ years in the HR space, I’ve worked in places where candidates were underrepresented and founders were misinformed. I firmly believe that when you focus on the power of people over profits you deliver a better experience for both you and the candidates.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to unlearn the lesson that I needed to know how to do everything. Since my corporate professional background is in HR and operations, it was imperative for me to have a solution and an answer for everything related to people and strategy. Usually, there were either no or very few places to ask for help or opinions so I was always my best resource.
Business is a different story. It is impossible for you to know how to do every single thing and this ultimately leads to burnout. Every successful company we see today has a team whether it’s big or small.
As a leader in business, your time is money so you end up losing money trying to do everything. This is a crucial lesson that every business owner needs to learn sooner rather than later.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Speaking has been a great way for me to build thought leadership and validation in the market. It’s one thing to put out content on social media but being able to show up and provide subject matter knowledge and expertise is different.
I know that I’m able to provide my audience with transformation with my voice and speaking has allowed me to gain a reputation as a trusted service provider in the recruitment and HR space.
