We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kimmarie Credidio a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Kimmarie, appreciate you joining us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
My mission statement for my business, Kimmarie Yoga is- To use my love of and passion for yoga to encourage, motivate and educate individuals on the benefits of yoga and the yoga lifestyle to help them foster a more fulfilling, healthy, and peaceful life.
Yoga & the Yoga Lifestyle has drastically changed my life & my health, which is why I’m so passionate about sharing it with others!
In my 20’s & 30’s I suffered with several chronic auto-immune illnesses and often felt sick, run-down, and frustrated! I attribute my vibrant health now to my ever-deepening yoga practice, and mostly how I manage stress. Stress is poison for the body, and certainly a trigger for auto-immune illnesses! The “Tools” i have gained thru my practice- meditation, breath work/pranayama, mindfulness, journaling, minimizing toxic/acidic/inflammatory foods & products, ALL have had such a positive impact on my health & wellness!!
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I had been in the fitness industry since I was 16 years old and realized I was doing so much for physical fitness and nothing for spiritual Fitness or the mind-body connection. I begin taking yoga in my late 20s and immediately fell in love with it. Two years later, I began to teach Yoga. Currently I Teach 8 to 10 yoga classes a week, host a variety of different yoga & meditation workshops, I have a yoga Membership, I host two retreats a year on the Connecticut Shoreline, a destination yoga & service retreat internationally.
I also do private yoga sessions, lots of yoga on the beach in the summer, and classes for fundraising events.
When I think about my “Soul Tribe” and my amazing community of yogis I am so blessed to have, I think one of the most important factors is the community and connection of like-minded people.
It is my Dharma and my passion to teach about yoga and the yoga lifestyle and I truly care about people! I want everyone who attends any kind of class or yoga event with me or just interacts with me, to leave feeling better after than they did before. I think it’s so important that people feel valued, seen, heard, & cared about!
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
a really important I learned overtime was to be really authentic and vulnerable! I’m always asking my yogis to show up just as they are, to be vulnerable, open and honest. To come to our community and peel back the layers… That we support each other, hold space for each other when the times are tough, and celebrate with each other when things are great! In order to be a leader in this capacity I thought I needed to have it all together, to have it all figured out.
But what I learned overtime and going through my own challenges and loss and grief was if I showed up and was vulnerable and authentic, it gave my yogis permission to do so also!
They held space for me as much held space for them!
As a leader, we also to all lead by example! Me being vulnerable has helped to foster a much closer more connected community as a result! I am so grateful!
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I think what helped to build my reputation in the business/industry is just being authentic and real. I am not playing a role. This truly is what I was meant to do- like I said, it’s my Dharma and my passion and I think that comes through. I care about people, I want to help people to live a better life, with more joy, more peace, better health, …less stress, less pain, less anxiety…
The world so desperately needs more love and light, and I am passionate about trying to make a difference!
