We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kimisha Leslie a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Kimisha thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
I always wanted to own my own personal businesses growing up and as such made sure I did courses and watched videos in regards to business from high school. In terms if just kickstarting my business without any fear I’d say thanks to a girl I met in my 4th semester at UWI. She was kind enough to give me her way of getting quality products to my country with little to no shipping cost. Her story and proof that what I wanted could work helped me to trust in myself to do it. And I haven’t looked back since.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Kimisha Leslie. I am 24 years of age. I consider myself to be a go getter. I got into the business industry through personal investment and wanting to be able to live on my terms and to be financially stable. I currently have 4 online based businesses. The first one is called Ahsimik’s Boutique, here I retail fashionable items as well as electronics and jewelry at affordable cost. I have another business called Ahsimik’s Assignment Centre which I started just 2 months ago or more. Here I offer students help with aby assignments they are having trouble understanding at affordable prices. I also have a company with my partner known as Phantom Printing Company Ltd, where we offer Printing services to our customers at affordable prices as well as design items. Landicure is the business we opened literally last night to offer landscaping services to Jamaica. What sets me apart from other companies is that I offer exceptional deals while also giving back to those in need. I also just want to make sure we all are earning and living how we should. I’d love for everyone to know that I am appreciative of the continued support and that I’m happy they trusted me to serve them.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I was told to leave my home at 22 because I broke a rule. I was basically homeless and had to rely on my partner. It was hard for me in terms of the feeling of abandonment and not having anyone outside of my partner and couple close friends to call on. However we made it through despite how many times they tried to stop our progress.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I had to unlearn the idea that theres wrong and there’s right. I use to think that everything was linear due to my Christian upbringing however after continued mix with different cultures and research I realized there was so much more to this life than what we had been taught. Life is really about experiencing what source made and we all have free will to either do good to others or be unfair and face karma
