Kimberly , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So, let’s imagine that you were advising someone who wanted to start something similar to you and they asked you what you would do differently in the startup-process knowing what you know now. How would you respond?
I would believe in myself and not take failure so serious or heartfelt ,I would know I can do better the next time with more experience behind me . I would look at things more positive and not be nervous of every upgrad . I would also be better at knowing when i have outgrown something and that means it’s time to spread my wings and fly again . Be excited for change . Be excited for the unknown and welcome new experiences. I have learned that one must face your fears to get over them . On the other side of fear is freedom.

Kimberly , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I got into the hair industry 13 years ago and climb up the latter like everyone else . I started on hourly , than commission than boothrent. I am now in a private suite at Sola . I provide everyday wear color and Haircuts to Creative transformations with color and cuts . My passion is definitely in the creative transformation or color correction but I absolutely love all aspects of my career. I have the best clients in the world and appreciate them . I have found a balance of suite life and also being an Educator for Schwarzkopf Professional a very good combination. They both compliment each other and I am always learning. Being an Educator helps keep you inspired, and very open to learning. You raise a bare when your in education and being around like minded creative people. Not to mention the professionalism its brings to the table . I love absolutely love to make people feel good and get so excited when they see there hair transformation or just brining ther hair back to life . I would say there is no other feeling better than when you see the big smile on there face. In a moment in time you have made someone feel beautiful and there is no better reward than that. I work behind the chair with my clients best interest at heart and a ton of integrity. You will always be in a good chair at my suite. Hair is my Passion. My heart. My soul and I am blessed to have this has my career .

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I was on commission at a salon that was closing and I had a choice to go find another commission salon or jump into boothrent. I wasn’t completely ready and had 70% retention. I was very scared and had many doubts. Honestly everything was OK and its just taking that leap of faith that was the hardest part Most of the time we never think we are ready for change and to wait for this or that . I learned to not wait and its never a good time . We are always ready for change . Weather we fail or excel its all part of our jouney to get us where we need to be . Trust the process . Takes risks. I don’t think we ever loose . We either win or learn .

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I think its really hard to put prices on passion. When I first went onto boothrent I wasn’t great at making my prices. I went into the hair industry all heart and that wasn’t good thing . I had to do alot of adjusting and raise my prices and fix alot of things in this area. I still continue to do this . I truly think many of us in the industry need education in business to help because many are working with alot of heart and passion and sometimes you won’t make it unless you start to charge your worth adding your heart and passion = a good recipe for success in the hair industry.
