Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kimberly Whitmon. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Kimberly , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
In order to be successful, one must first define what it means to be successful for them. Everyone doesn’t not have the same desires and it’s important to be clear on yours. If you do not have a clear picture of what success looks like for you, it’s impossible to know when you have attained it.
For me personally, I define success as combination of quotes by Dr Maya Angelou and Earl Nightengale. Success, to me, is liking myself, liking what i do and liking how i do it, continually striving towards a worthy ideal.
Once you have defined success, you can now map out the series of Aligned Actions necessary to bring that to vision to life. Success is choosing, day in and day out, to do the disciplines that will bring about the results we want.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
My name is Kimberly Whitmon and I am the CEO and Founder of Soul Strategies, a life coaching and mental health advocacy company born out of life experience and the calling to serve.
As a mental health survivor myself, diagnosed with Bipolar 2 at the age of 18, my life has not been a walk in the park. I spent years learning how to manage my mental illness diagnosis and I had always been very open about my challenges. Little did I know at the time, my vulnerability would give hope to so many people.
In sharing my story, others didn’t feel so alone. Those around me, who I was mentoring in a business capacity, felt comfortable enough to share their personal struggles with me. They found value in the feedback I gave and they continued to reach out when they were in need of a pep talk, so to speak.
After all, I had openly navigated muddy waters and still managed to lead a relatively successful life. I didn’t just share my struggles, I also talked about how I was able to overcome each one of them. Before i knew it, I had women encouraging me to become a coach and at the same time, I had come to the realization that this is my GIFT. My Divine Assignment. When you get the calling, you must pick up or it’ll just keep ringing in your ears.
I went through all the growing pains of life, to give birth to Soul Strategies and the various offers and services that we provide.
As a result of the value my company provides, our clients experience more internal peace, despite their external circumstances, ultimately stepping into the fullest expression of themselves so they, too, may live in Alignment with their Divine Assignment. They become a high performing, Whole Woman, designing a well-rounded, authentic, purpose-filled life.
I am looking to work with women on a spirit-led journey to self actualization. We only work with women who know they want a better quality of life, personally and professionally. And they are determined to become the kind of woman who can create it.
We do this through raising self awareness – uncovering your current paradigm that creating your present reality. Then my #soulsistars engage in deep self reflection – discovering ways to turn our obstacles into stepping stones. And our clients learn to facilitate self-redirection – utilizing the skills, systems, structures, strategies needed to emody the highest version of themselves.
Have you ever had to pivot?
The pivot has been REAL. After battling mental illness and then establishing a sense of balance as a relates to that mental illness – I just KNEW i was called to help other mental illness survivors do the same thing. I was sharing all the tips and tricks I’d implemented over the years, that SAVED MY LIFE.
However, my mentor, gave a me a big wake up call and I had to rethink my entire message. I cried. I had built my entire identity around my illness and now it was time to let go. Bipolar 2 is something that I HAVE, it’s NOT who i am.
See, I had been holding on to helping people overcome pain, instead of guiding them towards the enjoyment that I am now experiencing in my life. I had to apply the truth, what you focus on, is what you get more of. And even though my intention was to help, my focus was on the illness. I decided to shift my platform to one that promotes wellness, instead.
Since then, my business has taken off and I’ve met so many women who are also on the path to becoming the best version of themselves. I’ve been able to help my clients maintain emotional stability in the midst of major life changes. I’ve had a client start a non-profit, after being unclear and unsure of her decision for so long… and it’s a mental health nonprofit at that.
Even with making the pivot, I’ve still managed to attract and assist women who are battling the same emotional challenges as me. I’m just reaching at the point where growth is their only option. It’s a win win!
I’m so proud of my #soulsistars and I’m grateful they’ve trusted me to walk alongside them on this journey to higher heights!
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I haven’t built the biggest audience on social media, but I would dare say it’s THE BEST.
My audience started to grow when I stopped looking at it as just an audience. I began to see everyone as apart of a community.
And i started to ask myself, how can I add the most value to my community. What is the mantra that will bring this community together?
I Am The Whole Woman™️
Now we have 100+ Women Having an Optimal Life Experience. And we are growing by the day!
For those just starting out on social media, I’d suggest focus on community and actually engage with them. People don’t care how much you know, until they know how much you care. Show your audience just how much you care, by bringing all the value you have to offer.
Lead with the heart, and all else will follow.
