Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kimberly Vincent. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Kimberly, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
Topknotch Vegan Vittles is on a mission to make plant-based food accessible and empowering—especially for underserved communities. As a caregiver turned vegan chef, I’ve seen how food can heal, educate, and uplift. This isn’t just a business—it’s a movement to bring nourishment, knowledge, and opportunity to those who need it most.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Meet Kimberly Vincent: The Heart and Hustle Behind Topknotch Vegan Vittles
Kimberly Vincent is a caregiver turned culinary visionary, blending compassion, culture, and creativity through her mission-driven business, Topknotch Vegan Vittles—a mobile vegan food company rooted in healing and accessibility.
Based in Independence, Missouri, Kimberly’s journey into the vegan food space wasn’t born in a commercial kitchen—it began in homes, hospitals, and heart-to-heart moments. As a longtime caregiver and service coordinator, she witnessed the daily struggles families faced when it came to food access, health challenges, and lack of nutritional education—especially in underserved Black and Brown communities. Her work lit a fire within her to make a difference, not just by caring for others, but by empowering them to care for themselves through food.
After embracing a plant-based lifestyle herself, Kimberly began studying herbal healing and experimenting with meals that could both comfort and restore. What began as small-batch dishes shared with loved ones grew into a grassroots movement. Today, Topknotch Vegan Vittles serves up vibrant, soulful vegan meals that reflect her passion for wellness and community care—favorites include pasta salads, jackfruit creations, herbal lemonades, and her award-winning vegan wings, recently recognized as one of the top ten in the country.
But what truly sets Kimberly and her brand apart is the why behind it all. Topknotch Vegan Vittles isn’t just about flavor—it’s about food as medicine, food as justice, and food as opportunity. Through her upcoming nonprofit initiative, Kimberly is developing programs focused on food education, herbal healing, sustainability, and workforce development—especially for those reentering the workforce or transitioning from caregiving roles.
With nearly 12,000 followers across Facebook and Instagram, Kimberly has cultivated more than a customer base—she’s built a community. From ebook publishing to podcasting, content creation to community outreach, she’s proving that a food truck can be a vehicle for change.
“I want people to feel seen, fed, and empowered,” she says. “Topknotch Vegan Vittles is for the people—those who are healing, exploring, or just hungry for something different.”
In a world hungry for nourishment and meaning, Kimberly Vincent is serving up both—with every bite, every post, and every person she reaches.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
One big lesson I had to unlearn was the idea that I had to do everything alone to prove I was capable. Coming from caregiving and being a Black woman in business, I often felt pressure to be self-reliant to the point of burnout. But launching Topknotch Vegan Vittles showed me the power of collaboration and asking for help. When I started letting my community in—whether it was crowdfunding for equipment, hiring support, or collaborating with other creatives—my business grew and so did I. Unlearning that hyper-independence was hard, but it opened the door to real sustainability and deeper impact.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
It all started with something I called “Car Chronicles.” Back in the early days of Topknotch Vegan Vittles, we didn’t have a food truck or a storefront—just good food, word of mouth, and a whole lot of hustle. I would post up in a parking lot, and customers would come pick up their orders. But I didn’t just hand them their food—I documented the joy.
I started filming short clips of people enjoying their meals right there in their cars. Their reactions were real—smiles, laughter, those first bites that said it all. I shared those moments on social media, and slowly but surely, our audience started to grow. People connected not just with the food, but with the feeling behind it. That’s when I realized: authenticity builds community.
Advice for Those Just Starting Out:
1. Start where you are—you don’t need a fancy setup. Use what you have and focus on what makes your story unique.
2. Show your face and your journey. People support people. Let them in on your “why.”
3. Document, don’t overproduce. Share the real, everyday moments: cooking, customer reactions, setbacks, small wins.
4. Be consistent, even when it’s quiet. Trust takes time to build.
5. Engage like a human. Reply to comments, ask questions, thank people for sharing your posts.
The presence you build today becomes the platform for your brand tomorrow. Stay true, stay visible, and the people meant for your message will find you.
