We recently connected with Kimberly Vieyra and have shared our conversation below.
Kimberly, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.
My mother is my greatest muse. She is an immigrant that came to the US and stayed to give my siblings and I a shot at a different life. Notice how I didn’t say better? Why? Because to be completely honest, my mom had a pretty great job in Mexico and made good money. She followed my father to the US at a shot of unifying our family, she was left single to raise 4 children on her own. I believe all my siblings and I inherited my moms work ethic. She didn’t give up and become a victim. She got up and fought back at what life had thrown at her. She raised 4 incredible children that have had success in every which way. I work full time at a tech company and have been able to pursue content creating and influencing without the pressure of needing to “make it” or rely on it to pay the bills. It truly is a passion I am slowly allowed myself to dive into. My mom did it right by raising independent children and allowed us to not only pursue higher education if we wanted to but also what made sense for each of us. Maria is my hero and I owe my entire life to her!

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am a 31 latina content creator / model from the Bay Area, and now living in Arizona for the last 4 years. I have been modeling off and on for the last 3 years. I work full time for a tech company and started realizing I needed a creative outlet. I love my company and I wanted to share my creativity online. I don’t make any money from it which takes some of the pressure off. I am a huge supporter of local businesses, all women owned, and my favorite is latina owned. When I love something, I want to share it with the world. This is what my niche is. Sharing latinx owned businesses, whether it be coffee shops, apparel, influencers, everything.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
When one of my followers goes and follows / supports / become friends with something or someone I shared, I get so so happy! Not for me but the business owner.
Last year, I was getting a facial with an amazing esthetician and I shared it on my socials and someone that was following me that wasn’t someone I knew personally went to her. That is influencing at its finest and I freaking love it!

What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
Understanding that it isn’t a competition. There is room for everyone and anyone that wants it. No one is better than the other. Passion is passion and no one can take it away. When we support and join hands, we let negativity and trolls lose because their words mean nothing. Sharing businesses, fashion, food, and life is all something we have a space to do.
