We were lucky to catch up with Kimberly Tran recently and have shared our conversation below.
Kimberly, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
Before Chloe Rose I had a lot of doubts, uncertainties, and fears. There was a lot of worry about starting a business and venturing into something new as I didn’t know exactly what I was getting myself into. All I knew was that working with flowers was something I am passionate about and it makes me happy. And that passion and happiness was more than enough for me to take a leap of faith. After deciding that I want to take a chance I knew I didn’t want it to be just a business. I wanted Chloe Rose to mean something.
At the time I was in love with the name Chloe and Rosie. I mentioned a few times to friends that if I had daughters I’d give them those names. Then I decided to name the business after my two someday daughters.
I want Chloe Rose to be a reminder that you can love what you do. I want Chloe Rose to be the proof. And if anyone get lucky enough to find whatever it is that they genuinely love and are passionate about I hope they’ll take a chance despite the risks, self doubts and possibility of failure. Because if there’s anything I’ve learned, it’s that passions are worth pursuing and Chloe Rose is the living proof of that.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Kimberly and I am the owner/designer behind Chloe Rose a weddings and events floral studio in Southern California.
I got into the floral industry kind of on accident I would say. Back in my early college days I took on an assistant job at a weddings and events venue nearby. I just wanted something to do besides school and to earn some extra cash. I started off doing a lot of organizing, taking calls and greeting clients. Because the venue does in house flowers, I started getting exposed to the floral side of things. I can say I started from the bottom up as I started prepping the flowers to adding greeneries onto centerpieces and eventually designing an entire wedding. I found so much enjoyment in working with flowers and naturally went from assistant to creative designer in just a couple of years. I was told that I would light up whenever I talked about flowers and I think that was my “ah ha” moment.
After leaving to finish my last semester of college I realized how much I loved working with flowers and decorating weddings that I started Chloe Rose to continue my passion.
Chloe Rose focuses on timeless florals for the romantics. Known for our elegant and airy, garden-style designs. Our signature style exudes romance through detailed and artful designs.
I truly love what I do and I believe it shows through my work. I love sharing my passion and love for flowers and am always so grateful I get to do this for a living. I’m extremely proud of how far Chloe Rose has come and I am excited to see where this little business of mine will go in the years to come.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I think what helped me build my reputation within my market is authenticity. I’ve always wanted Chloe Rose to be more than just a business so it was important for me to show that there’s a real personal behind the business, on and offline. I started Chloe Rose because of the passion I have and I make sure to always keep that at the forefront. I think it’s important to build trust and connection by always staying true to who I am whether it’s through my work or speaking about things I believe in. And I would like to think that by being genuine, open and authentic I build a reputable reputation.

How did you build your audience on social media?
My social media definitely wasn’t built overnight. It took a lot of hard work and dedication. If there’s any advice I’d give, it would be to not focus on the numbers. I know it’s difficult, but at the end of the day the numbers are just numbers. What’s more important is authenticity. Share things you’re passionate about. Don’t be afraid to be personal and genuine because that’s the only way you’ll attract your people. Seek to find people who share your passion and appreciation of your work. The right people will be the ones who will endlessly support you, your business and are always the ones who stay. Don’t strive for the numbers, but for the people.
