Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kimberly Terasa. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Kimberly, appreciate you joining us today. Alright – so having the idea is one thing, but going from idea to execution is where countless people drop the ball. Can you talk to us about your journey from idea to execution?
In 2022, I had a realization that photography and videography were more than just hobbies for me. They were my passion, my way of expressing creativity, and my means to connect with people and capture their special moments. I decided to turn my passion into a profession and launch my photography and videography business.
I was into the vibrant creative scene, entrepreneurs, and local businesses that made Houston, TX truly unique. It was like peeling back the layers of the city and its people, and that became the foundation for the visual stories I wanted to tell through my work.
Once I had a clear vision of my brand and the type of projects I wanted to undertake, it was time to take action. I looked into the legal requirements, such as obtaining an LLC, and registered my business name.
The months that followed were a whirlwind of learning and growth. I focused on sharpening my photography and videography skills by picking up the camera and experimenting with different techniques. At the same time, I knew I needed to build a strong online presence, so I got to work on creating a website and making my mark on social media. It was all about getting my work out there and connecting with people who appreciated what I had to offer.
But let me tell you, launching a business isn’t just about having great ideas and skills. There’s a lot more to it. I had to figure out the ways of running a business. That meant establishing efficient workflows, finding effective ways to communicate with clients, and developing contracts and pricing structures that worked for everyone. And I can’t stress enough the value of making a conscious effort to connect with other professionals in the industry, because collaborations and referrals turned out to be absolute game-changers in gaining exposure and expanding my client base.

Kimberly, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Kimberly Terasa, and I am a Houston-based photographer/videographer with a deep-rooted connection to the vibrant culture of this city.
Through my photography and videography, I provide a range of services that cater to various occasions and clients. I specialize in creating stunning projects for individual and family portraits, events, grand openings, maternities, weddings, senior graduations, birthdays, headshots, real estate, music videos, and more. I strive to be a part of the milestones and events that bring people together to document the aspect of them.
In addition to working with individuals, I collaborate with businesses of all sizes to create social media content that resonates with their target audience to aim to showcase the products or services they offer. Helping to communicate their brand message, since having an active media presence can play a role in helping to expand further reach and attract potential clients.
What sets me apart from others in the industry is my genuine passion for what I do. Photography and videography are not just jobs for me; they are my creative outlets, my way of connecting with people, and my means of preserving memories. I approach each project with enthusiasm, seeking to understand my clients’ vision and bring it to life through my lens. My attention to detail, ability to capture candid and authentic moments, and commitment to delivering exceptional results set me apart and ensure that my clients receive a memorable and personalized experience.
I take great pride in the relationships I try to build with anyone I meet. I am passionate about understanding people’s needs and going above and beyond to exceed their expectations. Witnessing the joy on their faces when they see the final product is incredibly rewarding and fuels my drive to continue creating meaningful visual narratives.
One thing I want potential clients, followers, and fans to know about me is that I am deeply rooted in the Houston culture. I am inspired by the screw and chopped music, SLAB car culture, and the overall creative spirit that thrives in this city. This connection allows me to infuse a unique flavor into my work, capturing the essence of Houston and its people in a way that resonates with both locals and those who appreciate the city’s culture from afar.
Moreover, I pride myself on my commitment to diversity, inclusivity, and body positivity. I believe that every individual is beautiful, powerful, and worthy of love and admiration. Through my work, I challenge narrow beauty standards and highlight the unique qualities and stories of each person I photograph or film. I aim to empower women, promote diversity, and create a safe space where people can express themselves fully and authentically.
Looking ahead, one of my aspirations is to become known as the “Slab Photographer.” I want to offer themed photoshoots with slab cars into their sessions. By combining my passion for photography with the iconic Houston car culture, I hope to create unforgettable visual experiences that celebrate both personal style and community pride.
It’s also worth mentioning that while I pursue my creative endeavors, I am attending Sam Houston State University majoring in Cybersecurity. This field of study aligns with my interest in protecting digital data and ethically hacking to find missing people with Trace Labs. I believe in using my skills to contribute to important causes and make a positive impact in the world. Funding my creative projects and supporting fellow artists is a goal of mine, as we all strive to pursue our passions and make a living doing what we love.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
One of the driving forces behind my creative journey is to connect individuals and businesses with each other. I believe in the power of collaboration and the strength that arises from a united community. Through my photography and videography projects, I strive to foster connections, empower individuals and businesses, and create meaningful collaborations.
I have a mission to document the achievements, milestones, and moments of events for future promotions. By capturing these moments, I help businesses and individuals showcase their accomplishments, tell their stories, and attract like-minded individuals who resonate with their values and aspirations.
My goal is to make a positive impact through my creativity, whether it’s by capturing memories, empowering individuals and businesses, or promoting social change. I want my photography and videography to be a catalyst for connection, inspiration, and unity within the community.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist and creative for me is the ability to capture moments and create visual stories that evoke emotions, preserve memories, and connect people. It’s a way of bottling up emotions, experiences, and stories that can be revisited and cherished for a lifetime.
As an artist, I have the privilege of being part of people’s most significant milestones, celebrations, and events. I am very honored to be able to document these moments and provide my friends, models, and clients with memories. Seeing the joy, excitement, and sometimes even tears of happiness on their faces when they view the final images or videos is an indescribable feeling. Knowing that I have contributed to their happiness and created something meaningful for them is what makes my art fulfilling.
Being an artist allows me to express my creativity and share my unique perspective with the world. It’s a form of self-expression that brings me joy and allows me to connect with others who resonate with my vision. The ability to create something from scratch, to bring ideas to life, and to make an impact through visual storytelling is a constant source of inspiration and fulfillment.
