We recently connected with Kimberly Sherro and have shared our conversation below.
Kimberly, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about serving the underserved.
I believe deeply in the idea that both supporting local art and shopping local can change the entire scene and cultural landscape of an area, breathing life into the industry by keeping an ear to the ground with what “real people” are singing or painting or otherwise creating about.
I make album art, graphics, flyers, and local entrepreneurs at incredibly competitively low prices. I also use a bit of my branding consulting history to suggest ways for the bands to market or to use my drop shipping services to put their logos onto real merchandise, from socks to hoodies or shower curtains to hats. Between my ( ‘Zeus Medias’) various services like 3d printing, 3d design, custom resin pieces, and the discounts I give on my merchandise , I go out of my way to support and hype local talent in any way that I can. And I LOVE doing it. It’s so fun for me to get to play with band art, merch, and branding for my friends in the scene and I’m grateful that they let me do it so often!
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I have been drawing art commissions for about 18 years, but I finished my degree in Media Arts & Animation in 2016. I am fully trained in 3d softwares such as Autodesk Maya and I can create any prototype, 3d versions of logos, as well as I am skilled at making assets and .stls for anything that a client might need. Ive printed custom rolling trays for dispensaries, wearables for local brands, keychains and electric guitar knob aliens for entrepreneurs and musicians across the valley.
I also offer graphics for things like stickers for artists for their own branding Etsy or merch at festivals.
This is all a part of me offering band or branding logos, merchandise, flyers, banners, twitch panel art, etc.
Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
I wish Id known and explored the local band scene sooner. I moved in and out of town a lot in my early 20s and then did the RV travel thing for 3 years while it was trendy recently and I’ve really just settled in within the past couple years and realized how much I loved doing all of this for other artists.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
I’d love to work on more album jackets and band logos, specifically. And soon to delve into music videos, utilizing the softwares that I am already familiar with and dipping my toe into video editing and production.
