Today we’d like to introduce you to Kimberly Robbins

Hi Kimberly, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?

My journey is rooted in a deep passion for the arts and creative expression, intertwined with my personal struggles and triumphs. From a young age, I have always been deeply passionate about the arts and anything creative. Art became my sanctuary, a way to express my emotions and navigate the complexities of life, especially as I struggled with mental health.
Growing up multicultural and as a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I often found it difficult to find spaces where I truly felt I fit in and was accepted. These challenges fueled my determination to create a safe and inclusive environment for others like me.
I decided to pursue a career in therapy, attending the University of Saint Joseph for my Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. My goal was to help others navigate their mental health journeys. After graduating, I landed my first job as a therapist. While I valued the work I did, I still felt there was more I could offer. I realized that beyond clinical settings, people needed a place to express themselves creatively and feel a sense of community. This led to the creation of Space Creative Healing LLC, a non-clinical space where individuals can explore their creativity, feel safe, and find a community that embraces them.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?

Creating Space has definitely not been a smooth journey. I followed my instincts and my gut, jumping into this venture without any concrete plan or guidance. It was a leap of faith driven by my passion and desire to make a difference.

Starting out, I faced numerous challenges, from financial struggles to the complexities of running a business. Each day brought new obstacles, and there were moments of doubt and uncertainty. However, every challenge became a learning experience, pushing me to grow both personally and professionally.

Despite the difficulties, I don’t regret my decision for a moment. The community I’ve created through Space inspires and fuels me every day. Seeing people find solace, express themselves creatively, and connect with others in a safe space is incredibly rewarding. This journey, though bumpy, has been beyond fulfilling, and it reaffirms my belief in the power of following one’s passion and taking risks.

We’ve been impressed with SPACE Creative Healing LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

Our mission at Space Creative Healing is to provide a nurturing sanctuary for individuals who feel like
outsiders and offer boundless explorations for creative self-
expression. We strive to foster a sense of belonging, embracing diversity, and
creating an inclusive community where everyone’s unique narrative is not just accepted but celebrated. At Space we host activities that inspire personal growth, healing, and self-expression through various forms of creative arts. Our goals are to be the go-to hub for creative minds to grow, collaborate
and showcase their talents, to encourage individuals to share their stories and connect with others on a deep, meaningful level. Everything we do is focused around these goals and that is what sets us apart from others. Starting in July we will be offering a brand new monthly membership option that allows individuals to utilize our “Space” during regular work hours when events are not going on, as well as a discount on merch and cover fees for events.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?

The quality that has been most crucial to my success is resilience. The journey of creating and growing Space has been filled with challenges and setbacks. It was my resilience that enabled me to push through the difficult times, learn from my experiences, and keep moving forward despite the obstacles.

Resilience has allowed me to maintain my passion and commitment to my vision, even when things seemed overwhelming. It has helped me stay adaptable and open to change, learning from each challenge and emerging stronger. This characteristic not only fuels my personal growth but also ensures that I can provide a stable, supportive environment for the community I serve. Without resilience, I wouldn’t have been able to create and sustain this impactful “Space.”
