Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kimberly Osborne. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Kimberly, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?

The mission of Weddings by Kimberly Nicole is to provide exemplary wedding planning services to all types of clients, including those in the LGBTQIA+ community.

I started my wedding planning business out of a passion for helping others genuinely express themselves on their wedding day, not only in ceremony, but in design. The design of a wedding truly represents two people’s style and taste together, and it’s my job to combine everything in harmony. It’s not always the easiest job to navigate the family waters or the typical wedding ‘drama’ that can occur, but my couples know when they book me, that I am their advocate and confidant during the planning process.

However, the story behind Weddings by Kimberly Nicole goes a bit deeper. I found my passion of planning weddings by going through the most difficult time in my life. October 1st, 2017, I was in attendance at the Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas, NV. That night, 58 souls perished in the U.S. largest mass shooting…to date. I somehow survived. And just a few months later, I graduated with my bachelor’s degree. I started working at a local winery which hosted beautiful weddings where I had the opportunity to be promoted to work weddings. I obviously took that opportunity and that’s where I found my passion and purpose in life. By working weddings, I was able to see people celebrate their love on the most important day of their lives. And by seeing that, I realized that bad things happen everywhere, to anyone, and that shouldn’t stop me from enjoying the good moments when they are here. It showed me to live in the moment and to enjoy those around me.

By going through that traumatic, life-altering event, I was able to see a life in a more appreciative way. I learned that our time here is limited and to not hold back on celebrating the good. And that’s what makes me so passionate about serving all types of couples. Everyone deserves love and deserves to celebrate their love in the way that best represents them and their partner.

I work so hard to make sure each and every couple of mine feels genuinely themselves on their wedding day so they can truly enjoy their partner and the moment they are in.

Kimberly, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

My name is Kimberly Osborne, and I am the Owner/ Planner of Weddings by Kimberly Nicole.

I offer Full Planning and Month-of-Planning for all types of clients. I personally plan and execute every one of my weddings so my couples know exactly who will be handling their wedding day. Wedding planning is a personal process and I want my couples to know me and to know that I represent them genuinely during the planning process and on wedding day.

I got into the wedding industry by working at a winery in California and moving up into the wedding coordinator position. I was working in the tasting room where I was promoted to the Wine Club Manager position. That position also moonlighted at the wedding coordinator for all weddings on property and I quickly fell in love with coordinating. After years of weddings, I moved to SLC, UT where I started my own planning + coordination business.

I pride myself on extremely detailed timelines and planning communication. Making sure all vendors can work with the timeline to execute their services is a task that I don’t take lightly. I like to compare it to myself and the vendors being a football team, playing in the Superbowl without any practice together, and I’m the quarterback. I know it sounds ridiculous, but weddings are such an important event, and we all need to be at the top of our game each and every wedding day.

Weddings by Kimberly Nicole is a planner for all types of couples, especially those in the LGBTQIA+ community. Each and every couple is special to me, and I ensure that every wedding day represents each couple genuinely.

I love what I do, and I choose to do it every day. Weddings aren’t easy and I have to be 100% for my clients at every point in the planning process. Weddings by Kimberly Nicole is my true passion, and I am so happy to love what I do.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?

The most effective strategy I used to grow my clientele was advertising on the best sites.

As a wedding planner, there are a few platforms that couples use to find professional vendors. I knew from my experience at the winery what those sites were, and that they were worth the investment.

I also made sure to create a concise and user friendly website.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?

The best source of new clients has been WeddingPro. I am able to advertise my business, share numerous photos and collect reviews from past clients. If you are planning a wedding, go to TheKnot or WeddingWire to find your vendors. It’s nationwide and has numerous options for you!
