We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kimberly Nwankolo. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kimberly below.
Kimberly , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
“My mission is to build safe, nurturing, and secure homes for young girls and women who are victims of sex trafficking and prostitution. This commitment emerged during a mission trip to Los Angeles in 2017, where I witnessed the harsh realities of homelessness and abuse. Collaborating with the Dream Centre during this trip, we visited Skid Row, a park where young girls and women sought refuge on the floor, park benches, or wherever they could find comfort. The conditions were deplorable—no food, water, hygiene products, pillows, beds, or even suitable clothing.
Engaging with these individuals, hearing their stories, and witnessing the dire circumstances on Skid Row deeply affected me. Since that moment, my mission has been to build homes that provide safety and hope. While I may not have personally experienced abuse to this multitude, it fuels my determination to advocate for and support those who have.
This is where my mission takes root—building homes to provide a haven for these girls and women. A place where they can feel safe, knowing they won’t endure the abuse of their past. A place where they can sleep without fear, protected from harm. A sanctuary filled with love, happiness, laughter, peace, joy, and, most importantly, God.
While reaching this goal will take time, I firmly believe it will happen. My dream is to begin locally and expand globally, with the ultimate aim of establishing homes in every city, state, and country. The prevalence of such experiences is staggering, and my mission is particularly focused on young girls and women for now.
But it doesn’t stop at just building them homes, it is also about building up their lives from the wreck that it was. Instilling hope and strength back in them and reminding them about the power that they hold. The beauty inside each and everyone of them. Teaching them skills and the knowledge that will set them apart.
Reflecting on John F. Kennedy’s words, “Shelter is not enough; it’s about providing homes, comfort, and the best modern engineering and science can offer.” Thank you for joining me on this journey.”

Kimberly , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Kimberly Chinomso, I am an African American- fashion model, who loves traveling, watching sunsets, exploring nature, and who hopes to become Miss World. Originally from Nigeria, I grew up in London, before moving to the US. Adjusting to life here was a journey, but I persevered. After completing High School at Governor John R. Rogers High School, I did two years of Ministry School at Ministry Institute (MI) an extension site of Southeastern University. During this time, I was able to further my relationship with the Lord and found a great community, a few trials along the way but I overcame them. While attending MI, I got the opportunity to go on a Mission Trip which was part of the program, my first year I went to Los Angeles, partnering with the Dream Center. I got to go out on the streets of Downtown LA and serve those who are less fortunate. This trip involved going to a place called Skid Rowe, which is essentially a park where men, women & sometimes even children would live and sleep on the floor, park benches, or wherever they could find comfort. After numerous hours of talking with them, praying over them, and hearing their story, my heart broke completely and my platform was born. My platform is based on building homes for young girls who are victims of sex tracking/ human trafficking and prostitution. I have the heart to serve others, one of the many gifts the Lord has blessed me with, I have thought about this many times, and yes while I don’t know everyone’s story and what they have been through that doesn’t stop me from helping them. Showing them love, and giving them hope for a better future. On September 2023, I was crowned Miss Africa Washington State, a testament to the power of hard work and consistency. My life has been a journey of heartbreak, healing, and ultimately finding joy and peace through my faith in Jesus. Growing up in a household of divorced parents is where pain and heartbreak came in, and healing from that I learned that you can choose to live in your pain or grow, learn from it, and keep moving forward. I am a woman who believes in the power of prayer, I believe that the word of God is alive and active today. Allow me to reintroduce myself my name is Kimberly Chinomso- Miss Africa Washington State 2023, I am also a Women in Tech pursuing my Bachelor’s in Cybersecurity, currently working at Diligent Robotics to build a better future providing safety and bridging the gap in technology. My platform to build homes for young girls who are victims of abuse is very important to me as I also went through abuse, but there is healing waiting on the other side which is what I want to provide for girls and women around the world. The message is that you don’t have to be stuck in your pain forever.
Now, my goal looking at the bigger picture is to build homes in every country (globally) because abuse like this doesn’t just happen in one area, it happens all around whether you encounter it or not, and in due time I know that I will accomplish this mission. I can’t do everything, but I can do something and this is my contribution- no matter how long it takes. As a starter, I would like to rent a house or space in Seattle, WA where I can invite the homeless and the abused to stay in a more established home and give them stability in their lives, especially for young girls, a place where they can find comfort, and feel love like never before. It wouldn’t stop there, I would help them build their lives back up with life skills programs, leadership workshops, and inviting renowned pastors to bring powerful sermons because when you are empowered, you can empower others.
I cannot contain my excitement for this mission, and I am always looking for ways to get my mission out there, as this is not something that I can do alone. My patience, compassion, and heart are what I believe sets me apart from others amongst other qualities, I am thankful for the ability to pick myself back up from the pain and rise above trials and obstacles. One thing that is beautiful and outstanding is falling from a career, plan, etc., and the capability to pick yourself back up and be better, bolder, & confident. Not caring so much about others’ opinion of you, because in the end, you have the affection of the one that cares for you the most and that is the one true King- Jesus Christ. My story is a beautiful testimony and being able to share it in hopes of inspiring others to keep fighting is a true honour.
Thank you for listening to my story, and I hope to have your support as I continue to fight for my mission.

Have you ever had to pivot?
After completing Ministry School, I started to pursue my Associate’s degree in Cybersecurity at Bates Tech., the goal was to get my Bachelor’s so essentially that was my next step. Easier said than done, because none of my transcripts would transfer to any school and I was told I would need to restart school again, but financially that was not possible, so instead I pivoted and took another route, gaining a certification in Cybersecurity GRC (Governance, Risk, Compliance) and through that course, I was able to start an internship as a Cybersecurity GRC Intern for a few months, following that I landed a job as a Branch Auditor for a financial company, though it did not last long it did give me experience, after that, I landed another internship working with the Department of State on various assignments from LinkedIn posts to Foreign Policy, communicating and working with Diplomats, moving up the ladder started another internship working in Information Resource Management. After 1 year, a door was opened, and I was given the chance to go back to school and finish which is where I am currently in pursuit of my Bachelor’s.
