This version should work well for a magazine feature and as a professional bio. If you have a specific word count or additional details you’d like to include, feel free to let me know!

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
By the time I was 30 years old, I had endured more than I ever imagined. I faced abuse, struggled with alopecia, and turned to alcohol as a coping mechanism. I found myself in three toxic relationships, which gave me a false sense of what love was supposed to be. My confidence was shattered, but my faith was my anchor, keeping me afloat when I didn’t have the strength to stand on my own. As a single mom of two by the age of 25, relying on welfare, I was at a crossroads.
One day, a program found me—or maybe it was destiny. Pace University created the “Clout Program,” designed for single mothers on welfare with children aged one year and up who wanted to attend school and earn a Certificate in Computer Science. Despite facing resistance from my case worker, I persevered, even involving his supervisor to ensure I could enroll. I completed the program in a year and a half, eventually earning my associate’s degree and then a Bachelor’s in communications. I’m on the path to achieving my Master’s in psychology.
In 2018, I published my first book, Finding Love and Healing in the Pen. This book is my personal story of healing and self-discovery. In it, I use the pen metaphor to represent the messy, unformed parts of our lives that become beautifully penned masterpieces when placed in the hands of the Creator. Each event unfolds into a perfectly crafted love story between us and the divine.
Recently, I published a children’s book titled I Know Who I Am: Affirmations from A to Z. Like my first, this book is deeply connected to my belief in the power of self-awareness and healing. Studies show that a child’s brain development is critical from birth to age five. During this time, reading to them and instilling affirmations can significantly increase their vocabulary and foster a sense of self-awareness and confidence. While these affirmations don’t guarantee a challenge-free life, they remind them of their strength and identity when difficulties arise.
The inspiration for my children’s book came from my three sweet grandbabies. I want them to grow up stronger and more confident than I was. I also realized that only a healed woman can pour into and raise healthy boys and girls who will grow into healthy men and women. While fathers play an essential role, women are the ones who carry and nurture the baby for the first nine months. Through healing and empowerment, women can shape the next generation with strength and love.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
The lessons I had to unlearn were the stories I told myself of being unworthy or not good enough, being in abusive relationships, and losing my hair. My confidence was at an all-time low. No matter how many degrees I earned, I lived under its storyline; it was my fault. I had to rewrite a different story to survive. I am glad I did; now, I can help others with similar struggles.
