We were lucky to catch up with Kimberly Miller recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Kimberly, thanks for joining us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
The mission statement for my business plan is “I am a real estate professional who wants real estate to be more than just buying and selling. It’s forging genuine connections and cultivating community. I will be your trusted Colorado Springs guide on a mission to make your homeownership journey as simple and rewarding as possible. With a passion for Colorado Springs and its real estate market, I will provide you with personalized insights, local expertise, and a commitment to assisting you with all of your real estate goals. As a catalyst for community growth, I will connect families with homes and assist in fostering community amongst neighborhoods.” To me this mission statement embodies my biggest goal, building community. When we moved back to Colorado Springs in early 2020, I especially felt the loss of community. Like everyone else, navigating the pandemic was isolating. Parks were closed, schools were shut down, and our social circle was incredibly small. I felt a bit embarrassed because I was truly desperate for connection. So, I created a post on NextDoor, reaching out for community within our neighborhood, particularly for moms with young kids. What I quickly realized was that I wasn’t alone in this need. This led me to start a Facebook group for moms in our area, which grew rapidly. As summer approached, we began organizing meetups, walks, and playdates. It was a powerful reminder of how much we all need community, especially where we live. This experience has since become the driving mission behind my real estate business, to help others find not just a home, but a place to belong.
Kimberly, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Of course! Hi, I’m Kimberly Miller, a REALTOR® in Colorado Springs, CO. Born and raised here, I moved back with my husband and two daughters (although only one at the time!) in January 2020. After some time as a stay-at-home mom, I decided to pursue real estate because it blends my background in event management and sales with my love for Colorado Springs and my passion for homes. It’s been such a blessing, offering me the flexibility to be a ‘working mom’ while finding fulfillment in my career.
I’m a people person at heart. I love getting to know my clients on a deep level because the relationships we build are formed during stressful times and many hours spent together. Making it to the closing table with smiles on our faces and a stronger connection is what makes this job so special. I’m truly passionate about helping people find their “home” amidst a sea of houses and build a community in their new neighborhood. There’s no better job than one that doesn’t feel like a job at all!
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
The dream for any real estate agent is to build a business based on referrals. After all, what better compliment is there than someone liking you so much that they trust you enough to tell their friends and family? To me, referrals are the ultimate sign that I’m doing something right, whether it’s helping someone find their dream home or guiding them through a stressful sale with care and attention.
I’m so fortunate to have a strong circle of friends, and I’m deeply honored whenever they recommend me or choose me to help with their real estate needs. Knowing that they value my work and feel comfortable referring me to others means the world to me. It’s truly humbling.
So, if you’re reading this, please keep those referrals coming! There’s no greater joy in my job than helping people I know (and even new faces they send my way) navigate one of the most important decisions of their lives. I truly love what I do, and referrals are such a huge part of that joy. Thank you for trusting me!
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I manage my own social media because I want to maintain a genuine connection with my audience. It can definitely be daunting, especially when learning the algorithms and figuring out what works and what doesn’t. But for me, the focus has always been on consistency and being real with my followers. Life is messy and imperfect, and I don’t want to contribute to the misleading, overly-curated content that can often flood Instagram. I like to show my followers the real, unpolished side of things, flaws and all, rather than putting up a perfect façade that might be filled with lies or exaggerations. To me, social media is about being authentic, even if it’s not always easy or glamorous. So far, I’ve found that staying true to myself has led to meaningful connections with people who appreciate that transparency. As a result, I’ve seen both increased sales and opportunities that have stemmed from my presence on social media. Oh! And on that note, I’d love to connect with you @kimberlymiller_realtor on Instagram.
