We were lucky to catch up with Kimberly Jimenez recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Kimberly, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
Life is about taking risk. The risk I took was starting my modeling career with no experience at all, while also having no self esteem. I had always had a passion for modeling but never thought it would be something I would actually be capable of doing. My first fashion show was modeling quinceañera dresses, which is when I realized that is what I wanted to do in the future. Time passed by and Ana Castro from Path Academy reached out to me. She opened up my path in modeling. I have gained so much experience in runways, photo shoots, and many more areas. I have grown to be confident with myself and my work. I would say taking that risk is something I will never regret taking. Living life with no limits is what I live by.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
For anyone who does not know me, I am Kimberly Jimenez. I am 18 years old. I have been modeling for about 2 years now. My modeling career began with modeling quince dresses to now being a part of Path Academy in Nashville Tennessee. Where I can represent my Latin Community. I am a freelance model at the moment, since I am not yet signed to any agency. I have worked with runways, promotions, photoshoots, and more. Modeling has helped me grow into the confident strong person I am today. Looking back to the person I was 2 years ago, I would have never thought I would be capable of modeling. What I am most proud of is my self growth. I believe my kindness to others has also helped me in my career to not only grow connections, but to also return back to others who are in the position I was in 2 years ago.
Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative?
“Modeling is easy,” a phrase I have heard many times. People believe modeling consist of just walking in a straight line. When modeling is so much more. Preparation is key to becoming a professional model. When modeling you have to make sure you are confident with yourself and walk. After confidence, comes having good balance, attitude, creating angles, connecting with audience, posture, control of body movements, and much more. That being said the modeling industry is like any other industry. When having that easy, effortless walk is when you know you have accomplished your goal.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Yes, like anyone’s passion there is always a story motivating them to continue. My story is all about proving to myself, I am capable of accomplishing anything. When I was younger I struggled with having confidence with my body, skin, and height. I had many people bringing me down leading me to believe those things being said. That is why I now choose to ignore those things being said and focus on my future. I use those words to remind me what I am capable of accomplishing. I have now grown my confidence, which has opened me many opportunities.
