We were lucky to catch up with Kimberly Henriquez recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Kimberly thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Risking taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.
Taking a risk on opening Obra of Love just by following my intuition was both exhilarating and terrifying. On the one hand, it was amazing to feel so connected to my purpose and to know that I was following my heart. On the other hand, it was scary to put everything on the line for something that was so uncertain.
There were many times when I doubted myself and wondered if I was making the right decision. But I always kept coming back to my intuition, which told me that this was the right path for me. And I’m so glad that I listened to it.
Taking a risk on a business based on my intuition has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. It has allowed me to follow my passion, make a difference in the world, and create a business that is aligned with my values. I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am a multifaceted curandera, energy healer, and intuitive life mentor. I was born with an inherent connection to the spiritual world, and my grandmother instilled in me the spiritual lessons that would later become my guiding light.
Despite my gifts, my journey was not without its share of challenges. I left home at an early age and grappled with a series of obstacles, from dropping out of school to becoming a teenage mother. Life became a relentless cycle of survival, and I numbed my spiritual connections through various addictions.
Around a decade ago, I was called to embark on a profound journey of self-discovery. I drew upon the reservoir of knowledge inherited from my ancestors and began the arduous yet empowering process of healing myself and my lineage. Guided by the same spiritual teachings that once served as my foundation, I emerged as a beacon of hope and renewal.
My personal odyssey of healing and enlightenment has blossomed into a vocation dedicated to empowering others. I guide individuals along their unique spiritual journeys, encouraging them to embrace their inner light. I stand as a testament to the profound potential residing within each individual, and I invite you to embark on a journey of self-discovery, healing, and enlightenment with me.
We’d really appreciate if you could talk to us about how you figured out the manufacturing process.
We believe that sustainable manufacturing is essential for protecting the planet, and we are committed to leading by example at Obra of Love. We believe that we have a responsibility to care for the planet that sustains us, and we want to make sure that our business practices are as environmentally friendly as possible.
One of the ways that we are working to be more sustainable is through our manufacturing process. We only harvest what we need to craft our products, and we use eco-friendly packaging and shipping materials. We also offset the carbon emissions from our shipping.
In the beginning, it was a challenge to find vendors that shared our commitment to sustainability. However, we were able to find a network of women-owned businesses from other countries that shared our vision. We are proud to work with these vendors to create high-quality products that are also environmentally friendly.
We believe that it is important to be transparent about our sustainability practices. We want our customers to know that we are doing everything we can to protect the planet. We are also committed to continuous improvement, and we are always looking for ways to make our manufacturing process even more sustainable.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
One of my biggest lessons in life has been the importance of unlearning what has been conditioned in us. We are all born with a clean slate, but as we grow up, we are conditioned by our families, our culture, and our society. We learn what is right and wrong, what is acceptable and unacceptable, and what is expected of us.
However, not all of the conditioning we receive is helpful. Some of it can be limiting and even harmful. For example, we may be conditioned to believe that we are not good enough, that we cannot achieve our dreams, or that we are not worthy of love.
The process of unlearning can be difficult, but it is essential for our growth and development. When we unlearn the conditioning that no longer serves us, we open ourselves up to new possibilities and new ways of being. We become more free to be ourselves and to create the life we want.
These are the steps that I took:
Become aware of your conditioning.
The first step is to become aware of the conditioning that you have received. What messages did you receive from your family, your culture, and your society? What beliefs do you hold about yourself and the world?
Challenge your beliefs.
Once you are aware of your conditioning, start to challenge your beliefs. Ask yourself if they are really true. Are they serving you? Are they holding you back?
Experiment with new ways of being. Once you start to challenge your beliefs, start to experiment with new ways of being. Try new things, step outside of your comfort zone, and see what happens.
Find a support system. The process of unlearning can be challenging, so it is important to find a support system. This could include friends, family, a therapist, or an Intuitive life coach.
Be patient with yourself. Unlearning takes time and effort. Don’t get discouraged if you don’t see results immediately. Just keep practicing and you will eventually start to see change
