Kimberly, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
The Board Cake is a play on words that felt like the perfect fit. It came from combining two things I love, cake boards and charcuterie boards.
Beautifully curated charcuterie boards and stunning sweet creations. The name represents both the sweet and savory sides of what I do and how they come together in a beautifully styled, thoughtful way.

I’m Kimberly Hardy, the proud owner and heart of The Board Cake Grazing and Sweet Treats. What started as something I loved doing for friends and family—putting together beautiful boards, baking, and hosting—turned into a full business built around creating thoughtful food experiences.
The Board Cake is all about creating the perfect balance of sweet and savory. From beautifully curated charcuterie boards and boxes, grazing tables, and artisan sandwiches, to gourmet cinnamon raisin rolls, signature cookies, and seasonal treats, every bite is thoughtfully crafted.
We also offer Southern-Inspired Modern Cuisine catering designed to impress any crowd, from intimate gatherings to large celebrations.
To bring the experience to life, we created The Board Cake Cart—a fun, interactive way to serve up mini pancakes, savory sandwiches, ice cream, and sweet treats on wheels at any event.
In addition to catering, we host hands-on experiences like our Crafting Charcuterie Workshop with The Board Cake and our Cookie & Cake Decorating Workshops—perfect for team building, birthdays, or just because! It’s all about delicious food, creativity, and unforgettable memories.
What makes us different is the care and detail that goes into everything we make. I want the food to feel as special as the moment it’s a part of, whether it’s a celebration, a workshop, or a casual Sunday brunch. I don’t just want it to taste good. I want it to be remembered.
I’m incredibly proud of how much the business has grown, what began with a passion for creating memorable food experiences has led to collaborations with wineries, partnerships with national brands, and being a part of weddings, birthdays, corporate gatherings, and so many celebrations where good food truly made the moment unforgettable.
At the end of the day, I just want people to know this: The Board Cake is made with heart. Every board, every cake, every bite is created with intention, flavor, and love.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
My reputation has been built on consistency, care, and connection. I put my heart into everything I create, and I think people feel that, whether it’s a charcuterie board, a signature cake, or a catered event. Word-of-mouth has played a huge role too. Clients share their experience because it’s more than just food. It’s thoughtful, beautifully presented, and made to be remembered.
I also show up with professionalism and a personal touch, and I believe that combination has helped me earn trust and build lasting relationships.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
One moment that stands out was when I took on a last-minute catering job for an event. I had very little time to prepare for. I had just finished a big order the night before and was running on fumes, but I didn’t want to say no. I got up early, prepped everything from scratch, and delivered it on time. What made it worth it was the client’s reaction. They were so grateful, and it reminded me why I do what I do.
There have been plenty of long nights, unexpected challenges, and moments where I’ve had to figure things out on the fly. But I’ve learned to stay grounded, trust myself, and keep moving forward, even when it’s tough. That’s where the growth happens.
