Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kimberly D. Worthy. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Kimberly D., thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.
I learned to get a foothold in television by trial and error. I initially wanted to start my career solely as an Actress. After attending countless auditions and seeing the same people time and time again, vying for the same few positions, I knew I had to do something different. I always remembered the quote, “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.” So for me, my ability to be fluid and navigate directions when need be was essential to my success.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
I am Kimberly D. Worthy and I am widely known for appearing on several FOOD Network Shows, TMZ, and other National Television broadcasts. Outside of television, I am a three times Published Author. My latest book is called “How to Develop Your YOU: A Tactical Guide and Planner to Develop You Into a Personality Fit for Non Scripted Television.” This book is an interactive guide that dives deep within to develop the skills that make people marketable. I am asked quite frequently on how can one become a television personality, and my book provides a great deal of insight. into that burning question. My other books are an Educational Volume on children books entitled “Poetry Is not Just Rhyming.” All of my books can be found at Online Retailers such as Amazon and Barnes and Noble.
I believe in using all of my talents as I work in Education as well. I am an International and National Keynote Speaker at Webinars and Conferences on the developments in Education. I have an Online Education Business in which I teach English Second Language (ESL), Creative Writing and Acting. I also teach Sensory Cognitive Instruction to adolescents and Adults.
Do you think there is something that non-creatives might struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can shed some light?
I would like to inform non-creatives that the concept of having free time for a creative is non existent as creatives are always creating even when it seems that we are not. This in turn is a blessing and a curse. It is a blessing because we can essentially create the universe that we choose to create. It is a curse because our minds never rest and run on repeat unless we train it to stop. It’s funny because I can hardly watch a movie for the entertainment value alone because I am busy identifying the allusions in the dialogue and analyzing how they impact the plot.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
I feel most rewarded when I am asked to speak on a panel, attend a meet and greet or read fan mail. I have received some of the most heartfelt messages from people commenting on how much I have positively impacted their lives. I know that my mission in life is much greater than me. When I am able to encourage someone, when at times, I myself need encouraging, is one of life’s greatest feelings.
