Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kimberly Collins. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Kimberly, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
All About Mommie is my baby and it represents everything I stand for. It’s a company embodied by compassion, understanding, endurance, strength, greatness & feminine energy. I saw there was a lack of attention and support around the subject of postpartum care, so I sprang into action due to a personal encounter. Backstory, my friend was having a baby and I wanted to gift her with something that was just for her and that would be helpful, I begin searching what to gift a mom after birth. The word postpartum kept coming up and before this I had no idea this was a thing. I knew women had to heal after birth, but I had no idea this healing phase had a name. So, I looked into what would be most helpful to her and I put all these things in a basket. This basket included witch hazel pads, comfy socks, nipple cream, postpartum pads, stool softeners, aromatherapy wax melts, and some other things I can’t recall. It was one of the best gifts she had received. It was her who said to me I think you should make a business out of this. And thus, All About Mommie was born. My mission then was to gift my friend with some essentials that would aide in her healing and that mission still stands true for all the mothers I service today. I want moms to feel seen, appreciated, thought of and cared for. So many time people get caught up with the new baby they sometimes unintentionally overlook that mommas needs some TLC too. I provide that TLC with convivence, my kits ship right to their front door. I have even gone the extra mile and became a Certified Postpartum Doula as of May 2023, to provide even more TLC in the comfort of their homes, steady keeping true to my mission. I plan to help as many mothers as I can.
Kimberly, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
As I mentioned before, this business started due to me wanting to gift my friend who just had a baby with a gift that was not only for her but would aide in her healing process. I want all moms to have the same the same experience when they shop with me. Despite my company still growing each and every day, I still pour into it the same energy I had when I first started if not more now. I believe in what I am doing is for the greater good of motherhood and I will stop at nothing until each, and every mother can get the All About Mommie experience. I offer nine kits and all of my kits are different, therefore they can fit every kind of mother with any type of birth and her breastfeeding journey. My business also, provides a sense of convivence, my kits are delivered right to their front door, they don’t have to deal with the hassle of having to go out and find everything for their postpartum journey. I believe my passion sets me apart from others, I genuinely believe in my business so much, I have given away a few kits for free just because I wanted moms to experience what I have to offer. I look forward to being of more service to them now that I am a certified postpartum doula, we are just progressing, and I am just enjoying the journey.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
Being a small business owner, I learned how to handle the unexpected obstacles when they arise. I try not to beat myself up for not being more prepared and I learn from what went wrong and come up with a plan, so it doesn’t happen again. So example of this is I went to my first expo for pregnant women last year in 2022. I had giveaways, information packets, snacks, I looked and smelled good. I was ready for potentials customers. I had a nice turnout so many people stopped by and got information. The expo was nice but unfortunately, I did not bank on people wanting to buy a kit on the spot. I was not prepared at all. So, I learned from that to keep some kits on hand next time I attend lol. I plan to attend next year in 2024 and you can bet I will definitely have kits on hand.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
When it comes to getting new clients to be interested in my company, I have been using Tiktok as an outlet and it has been great. I have made a few sales from using that platform. I also, have sells throughout the year as well. Both of these together have been driving my business in a growing direction.
