When I acquired my first customer, it was actually through a friend who needed assistance with their social media marketing. They approached me and asked if I could create a quick graphic for them to post online. Given our friendship, I agreed to help them without charging any fees initially. However, when they returned and requested further assistance, I politely mentioned that I would be charging a nominal fee of $10 for my services. They understood the value of my time and agreed to pay.
This positive experience led me to consider offering my services on an ongoing basis. I began providing monthly digital marketing services, and word-of-mouth referrals started to spread. As a result, I started receiving inquiries from other individuals and businesses who needed my expertise, and my client base gradually expanded.

Allow me to introduce myself to those who may not be familiar with me. My journey into the digital marketing industry began out of a desire to assist others while also finding a way to generate income from home as a full-time caregiver to my father-in-law. His health condition required me to be available around the clock, so I needed a flexible work opportunity that I could manage remotely. With a background in real estate and having worked at Keller Williams Realty for several years, I already had a vast network of contacts who could potentially benefit from my services. They were incredibly supportive of my new endeavor, and their trust and encouragement not only helped my business but also aided in the care of my father-in-law.
In terms of the products and services I provide, my digital marketing business focuses primarily on assisting individuals and businesses in the real estate industry. I offer a wide range of services tailored to their specific needs, including social media marketing, content creation, search engine optimization, website design, and lead generation. My goal is to help my clients effectively promote their properties, build a strong online presence, and attract qualified leads.
What sets me apart from others in the field is my deep understanding of the real estate industry coupled with my expertise in digital marketing. Having spent years working in the real estate sector, I possess firsthand knowledge of the challenges and intricacies of the market. Throughout my entrepreneurial journey, there was a particular period that truly exemplified my resilience. When I initially embarked on starting my business, my plate was already overflowing with responsibilities. However, I recognized that the challenges I faced would ultimately lead to a better life for myself and those I cared for.
At the time, I was a full-time caregiver for my father-in-law, who was grappling with the debilitating effects of Alzheimer’s disease and later faced the additional battle of metastatic prostate cancer. His well-being and happiness rested heavily on my shoulders. It was my solemn duty to ensure that I did whatever was necessary to meet his needs while also finding time to care for myself.
Starting a business amidst this complex and emotionally demanding situation added another layer of difficulty. However, I was unwavering in my determination to ensure our family’s quality of life remained intact. I knew that achieving financial stability through my business would allow us to afford critical assistance for my father-in-law and provide him with the care and support he required.
The journey was far from easy. Balancing the demands of caregiving with the challenges of starting a business was a constant juggling act. There were sleepless nights, moments of doubt, and overwhelming stress. But through it all, I refused to let adversity define me. Instead, I channeled my resilience and determination to push forward.
I learned to embrace the power of adaptability, finding creative solutions to navigate the complexities of my circumstances. It was a constant exercise in prioritization and time management, ensuring that both my family’s needs and the growth of my business received the attention they deserved.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
One of the most significant lessons I had to unlearn was the belief that I had to accept every customer who approached me for business. Initially, I was driven by the desire to help as many people as possible. I wanted to extend my services to anyone who expressed interest in working with me. However, I soon realized that this mindset was not sustainable and did not always lead to fruitful partnerships.
As I began my entrepreneurial journey, I quickly encountered clients whose needs and expectations were not aligned with my abilities and the scope of my business. While I initially thought that taking on every customer would be a positive approach, it became evident that it could lead to less constructive engagements.
The backstory behind this realization stems from a series of experiences where I found myself in situations that were not conducive to delivering the best results. It became clear that trying to please everyone was an unrealistic goal. As a consultant in the digital marketing industry, it became vital for me to identify customers who were a good fit for my skill set, expertise, and the values of my business.
I gradually learned that it is essential to assess each potential client and project carefully. This involves considering factors such as the scope of work, alignment of goals, and the potential for a mutually beneficial relationship. By focusing on finding customers that are a good fit for my abilities and business, I can deliver exceptional value and create meaningful impact for those I work with.
Unlearning the notion of taking on every customer has been a transformative lesson for me. It has allowed me to be more discerning and strategic in my approach to client acquisition. By choosing to work with clients who align with my expertise and vision, I can provide them with the best possible service and achieve more impactful outcomes.
