Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kimberly Campbell. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Kimberly, appreciate you joining us today. Alright, so we’d love to hear about how you got your first client or customer. What’s the story?
The first dollar my business earned outside of a family member, or a friend was within the first 48 hours of business. With several weeks of sleepless nights due to researching, brand messaging and website building, I was finally up and running. My first “paid” order came from a friend wanting to be the website tester. I was able to actually receive an order, process an order and refund an order. During that test run we viewed how fast it took to receive the confirmation email, as well as to receive the notice of the refund. I was able to access the chat icon that was also integrated into the website. This was my first time ever building a website and to see it actually worked, I was ecstatic! The next day I decided to move the launch date up and publish the website. Immediately, I received four orders online. Three were to be shipped, and one customer chose the pick-up option. Technically, it wasn’t a pick-up. I actually delivered the order to local customers within the area if the option for pickup was selected. After returning home from the delivery, I received a message through the business Facebook page that I had created weeks before. It was a customer wanting to place an order; however, they would only be able to pay cash. I did not want to already refuse a potential customer, so I accepted the order via Facebook messenger. We agreed to meet at the local mall to make the exchange and everything was a success. Luckily, there was a device I had ordered while researching through PayPal that allowed me to provide the customer with a text message receipt. She was shocked lol.
Kimberly, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Hello everyone. My name is Kimberly Cooper, mother of two hadsome boys ages four and ten. Outside of being a mommy, I’ve found time to become an entrepreneur. The Glam Corner was established in December 2018 with everyone one in mind. Our company’s motto states, ” Where there is something for everyone”. Since being established, it has not changed. As a young girl, I have always been interested in fashion. My friends would all borrow something when it was time to step out and have some fun! What navigated me towards fashion was how easy it was to make your own style. It’s so easy to follow trends especially with social media having so many influencers. I have always been a huge online shopper and after having so many orders arrived and not being able to fit them correctly, I decided to create my own. I began researching information excessively day in and day out. I didn’t know anything about launching a business nor starting a business. I began to research that information as well. Once the website was created, I had already put so much work into the business there was no way I would turn back. All while working full- time for a large bank and taking care of my two sons. While working at the bank, I learned alot about finances, disputes and fraud. That information allowed me to be careful with the money aspect of the business. Prior to working for the bank, I worked for a private Hospital for 8 years. The knowledge I gained from there brought a more compassionate side to my brand. I was easy to relate and connect with customers. Four years later and i’ve build a connection with each individual that come through the door so much so, they return.
The types of services/products that are offered at The Glam Corner Boutique are Apparel, footwear, and accessories (jewelry, sunglasses, hats, belts, and handbags), false eyelashes. Most of the time, just coming in for one item results in customer’s leaving with a bag full. We have great conversations, and lots of laughter. The decor is of Emerald Green, Gold, and Bubblegum pink. It gives a feeling of luxury and calm. Majority of the time customers enter without a clue with what they are going to leave out with, so I ask. “What are your plans for this evening? Sometimes I add in to see if they’re looking for a certain color or may prefer a pants/dress. Once the image is created in my mind, I create a comfort space to allow the customer to trust my judgement with hopes they select the look we choose as a team. That’s what sets me apart from others. I care. I care so much so, if the “look” does not appear comfortable, the customer and I go back to the drawing board and start over. I’m most proud when the customers trust my judgement and go with the look of choice, only if its comfortable. It amazes both the customer and I when I not only guess their size but get it correct and it actually fits lol. Those customers usually return. With our Loyalty Program, customers are allowed to redeem points towards purchases. Also, with the easy and convenience of AfterPay and Klarna, we accept those programs proudly.
I am most proud of the growth of the company and how it allows each individual to remain they’re self and express themselves through fashion. With great quality and affordable pricing, our products are guaranteed to last. Visit www.TheGlamCorner.shop for the latest trends
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
a lesson I had to unlearn was to not need/want any new friends. I have met some of the most friendliest people within this industry and majority of them were strangers. They have no reason to judge me, they’re just here to celebrate the now and the future.
How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
In order to keep in touch with clients, I’ve created a text group for different levels of clients. I have VIP clients that would like to know what’s coming in and when the items are expected. I also have an email group where I notify customers by email when new arrivals may be added online or in store. My personal contact list has grew as well within the past four years due to repetitive clients turning into family.
