We were lucky to catch up with Kimberly Broffitt recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Kimberly thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
“The Healing Place-Where Therapy Meets Healing”
In 2018, I was extremely depressed. I lost my mother and my grandmother; the two people that understood me the most. I was in my lowest season ever and was struggling with my identity! I felt that I had nothing to live for. In 2019, I was blessed with a daughter, which saved my life! I wanted to be a role model. I had to let all of that hurt and anger go. I had something to live for. I started off just trying to be a better person and a great mom. I’ve always had a helpful nature, but I had developed trust issues with people. I started working on my mindset and my attitude. I started seeing a therapist. I wanted to be better.
In 2021, I established a new church home, rededicated my life to Christ, and decided to give God a “yes” for me and for my daughter. In 2023, I was blessed to start my own mental health private practice. In my practice, I focus on helping people with their mental wellness, and healing from their wounds. It was through my own self-love journey that I was
able to celebrate triumphs over trauma such as sexual assault, physical/verbal abuse, abandonment, guilt, and shame.
This was done by utilizing tools that God placed in my life. I stopped looking at my past trauma as baggage and started seeing it as a blessing, that I needed to go through that to be who God called me to be: a person to guide others as they work through their own trauma. My spiritual mom once said, “Sometimes your problems need a couch and an altar; therapy is to provide you with practical concepts and the altar is to navigate you out of bondage.” I have found that statement to be true. It’s okay to have Jesus and a therapist too… and it’s a plus to have a SAVED therapist.
This is my story behind my mission. To be someone who helps others find peace through healing by using the trauma I’ve endured, and overcome, as motivation. To share with others the power of God when we ask Him for help. My mission is to use therapy not just as a tool to make others feel better, but to help them find complete and total healing.
