We recently connected with Kimberly Bramwell and have shared our conversation below.
Kimberly, appreciate you joining us today. Can you recount a story of an unexpected problem you’ve faced along the way?
Building my photography business has certainly had its ups and downs. One of the challenges I’ve encountered is maintaining a consistent stream of bookings. While some months see a few sessions, there are times when bookings are slower, which makes planning ahead a little more difficult. Another challenge has been effectively reaching the right audience. While I put effort into marketing and reaching out to leads, it can sometimes just be a matter of timing—people only book when they are ready for a session, or if you have the style they’re wanting and that doesn’t always align. It can sometimes feel discouraging when marketing efforts and client outreach don’t result in any bookings. Despite these hurdles, I’m committed to refining my approach to continue growing both creatively and professionally.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am Kimberly Bramwell, the owner of Kimberly Bramwell Photography. I specialize in portrait photography and I am known for being a natural light family and senior photographer. Over the past year, I have started with small wedding photography and truly I enjoy that as well.
My love for photography started while I was in college taking photos here and there for friends and family just for fun. It was through that where I started to really love the whole process from planning photoshoots, to taking the photos, to editing them and then presenting the final product.
I am now in my eighth year of building my business as my second job and I am still growing. My favorite part of it all is being able to connect with each of my clients and create custom sessions for them. In that I get to be a part of helping capture such great memories, from yearly Christmas family photos to pregnancies, birthdays, engagements, senior pictures and more. Being able to capture the memories both big and small and to see how happy my clients are make it all worth it!
I am most proud of the experience I get to create for my clients and the relationships that form from each session. Each session is more than just pictures being taken- it is the whole experience of the photo session, portraying their personalities and stories, connecting and forming those relationships and celebrating those special moments together! Each session is specially tailored to match each individual client, to truly showcase their personality and story! No two sessions are the same and that is what I love. I am so grateful that they entrust me to be apart of their special moments by capturing their memories.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The best source for new clients so far has been referrals! I have been blessed to have friends and family recommend my services. Word-of-mouth is incredibly powerful and it helps when it is a personal referral. Support in spreading the word is just one way to help my business grow.

How did you build your audience on social media?
I have built my audience on social media via Facebook and Instagram. I do so from posting content on my page, inviting friends to like my page, and sharing my posts. Family and friends have also been helpful in this as well when they like and share my page, and like /comment and share my posts. Those quick and easy things help to get to get my business page out in front of more people.
