We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kimberly Anne Richardson a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Kimberly Anne , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
My mission, currently is to give a voice to the voiceless. Or better, to have the mindset “Here I am God, send me.”
I was traveling as a documentary photographer in The Middle East. While I was there with a team of people, there was a 7.8 earthquake. It was extremely traumatic for my team.
After this happened, we came across a man with a mini van and we ended up stranded on the side of the road with no gas.
After a day or two, we started to get really tired and hungry. That’s when we met a man that changed my life.
I don’t know his name, but he came around the side of our mini van and asked if we had anything to give to him. And we apologized and said no. That’s when he pointed to the Bible we had in HIS LANGUAGE. And we have it to him. He looked at it and then at us, opened it to Mark 13:2; “you see all these great buildings? There will not be one stone left upon another that will not be thrown down.”
And I got it on video. I got his reaction to reading the Bible for the first time in his life on my old camera.
This is why I do what I do. I posted these photos later, and it opened the doors to a whole new world for me. I still want this story told. There’s still so much to be said.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am a traveling creative. I’m always open to traveling to new places and meeting new people! I’m very passionate about photography, cinematography, and creating new things.
I’m here to be your hype person and give you a voice.
I’m also here to help you feel comfortable in front (or behind!) a camera.
I’d love to meet you wherever you’re at!

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
For me, it’s seeing and meeting new people and getting to co-create with them.
Portraiture and getting the small, minor details just makes it so worth it to me.
The biggest reward is the excitement I feel from people when I send them pictures of their anniversary, pregnancy announcement, new business photos, or even senior photos. When I hear and read how happy people are to receive their photos, it just reminds me how much I love being a creative.

Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
For sure the obvious, YouTube, classes, and the people around me.
I think we really don’t see that the people around us with these massive cameras, started somewhere. AND, It’s okay to ask HOW they got there. It’s okay to ask questions.
That’s a really big one. For me at least.
Take the time to reach out on social media and meet new people. People you really look up to… might just respond. You really never know.
