We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kimberly Aguirre a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Kimberly , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today One of the things we most admire about small businesses is their ability to diverge from the corporate/industry standard. Is there something that you or your brand do that differs from the industry standard? We’d love to hear about it as well as any stories you might have that illustrate how or why this difference matters.
Let’s be real, donuts are not synonymous with “healthy”, Typically when we think of indulging we think, sugar, high calories, & artery clogging deep fried treats.
We’’ve pioneered a “farm to finger” healthy donut! We are taking americas favorite treat and instead using ingredients like, gluten-free oats, sweet potatoes, egg whites, zero calorie sweetener and baking it!
We go as far as sourcing our oats directly from the fields in Wyoming. Once the oats are harvested they are shipped directly to our store where we mill it into fresh oat flour.
We’ve had the opportunity to hear stories of gratitude and excitement in our creation. Many who for reasons like throat cancer who can’t enjoy a DOATNUT have found a renewed joy in life.
We hear from families who are diagnosed with celiac who have come to find a new gluten-free dessert. .We’ve heard from customers who battle an autoimmune disease who find themselves not getting sick after enjoying a DOATNUT. Or even a cyclist who finds added endurance after a long ride.
Listening to these stories is a testament that joy can be found in simple pleasures. Providing a product that is as good to your body as is to your soul is life changing.

My name is Kimy, I am the Founder & Creator of Doatnut. What’s a DOATNUT? It’s a gluten-free & sugar-free oatmeal donut. Creating a “healthy” donut option is just as important to the diabetic who shouldn’t have sugar as it is to the celiac person who can’t seem to find any gluten-free options that actually taste good or the bodybuilder that wants a low calorie, clean, sugar-free treat to get them through prep.
Doatnut was born in the pandemic. Out of a desire to consume more whole grains and out of a desire to kick the sugar habit. It’s a great feeling to know that I’m providing a wholesome, raw and feel good product.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
I’ve heard countless stories of people who’ve tried my Doatnuts at the office, or from friends who share, or customers who come in for a “friend”” who is on a sugar-free challenge and is celebrating a birthday. Or, a gym owner bringing Doatnuts to their members.
My most successful source of getting new customers is from my customers. They love us so much that they share and advocate for us.

We’d love to hear about how you met your business partner.
My husband is my business partner. I’m a lucky girl. He believes in my vision and stands behind every decision I’ve ever made. We actually met in high school. He was about to graduate high school, senior year. I was a sophomore. He came up to me at my locker and said “ you have the most beautiful eyes I’ve ever seen”. The rest is history!
