We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kimarie Tobe. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kimarie below.
Kimarie, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Greetings, my name is Kimarie Tobe I am a single mother of three son’s and three grandsons. My youngest son will be 29 on 1/4 2024. He is the reason why I started my push For Love Non-profit. Push For Love supports parent/ caregivers with special needs children emotionally and financially. As a single parent experiencing the challenges that follows a child with cerebral palsy. I want to help others that experience the same thing. I’ve started my branding back in 2014 with Push for Love Apparel. the website is: pushforlovegives.com. I also have a push for love song and video which I was inspired to write from my own experiences in life. this can be found on my website, YouTube music and Spotify. I have a you tube channel you can fine all of Push for love activities…
In 2022 I received my 501c3. I also started Push for Love retreats. My first retreat was on October 29, 2022. then April 2023 and October 07, 2023. In these events we provide meditation sessions following a breakfast buffet, guest speakers on self-care. and spoken words/ poets it all surround love, self-love. we provide a safe and loving space for the caregivers to share their story with us, which they find therapeutic. all guess leave with a push for love gift bags, this is a time caregiver are celebrate and be around others that understand the struggle. As caregivers we give so much to our loved ones, we forget who we are. we will continue to add on in each retreat health and wellness activities such as breathing techniques, tapping session etc. these are tools we can use at any point we are feeling overwhelmed or stress.
the parents that participate in these events thank me for having the retreats. one parent said I take my daughter to event all the time but not once have anyone had an event for the parent. I thank you Kimarie for thinking about us I will return to the next retreat. The goal is to spread the word to as many people as possible. so they can have a beautiful experience as well. in so cases this is the only time caregivers get out to be celebrated. To have a vision and see it come a live is truly a proud moment. we help people that help people.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Yes,
I have a weakness for the homeless, disable and the elderly. Having a son with a disability I’ve never felt such love in my life. when I found out about his condition It was all about him. here it is this 1bl 2oz little guy fighting for his life. I couldn’t do nothing but love him to good health. I gave my all to him until he was strong enough. then I was able to pull back a little and breath. he had several doctors to see on a regular, maintain working without much sleep. but I had to do it , I had no other choice. it was all for my son Jabril. now his health is much better after all these years. to push through the struggle with him from hip surgery and pushing him across the stage when he graduated from High school. it was all worth it.
Any advice for managing a team?
My advice, be the example and set the standard. be the way you want your business to run. you may not be perfect but strive to be the best version of yourself.
