Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kim Vinatieri. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Kim , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s start big picture – what are some of biggest trends you are seeing in your industry?
One of the biggest trends that I personally love is embracing natural curl and texture! As a hair stylist, I am very comfortable using hot tools to style my hair. What makes me uncomfortable however, is working with my natural waves. Fighting frizz has always been a losing battle for me. But when I started seeing more and more women rocking their natural hair it inspired me. It’s normal to open up a magazine or turn on the tv and be slapped in the face with (gorgeous) shiny, smooth, perfect hair. And while I agree that those styles are stunning, it’s not realistic for most women to wear daily. I am just starting my natural hair journey and I have a lot to learn, and I am excited to pass on that knowledge to the clients in my chair. I believe healthy natural hair is here to stay!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I started my career as a stylist 11 years ago and never looked back! Growing up in the competitive cheerleading world, I was always styling and experimenting with my hair. My mom encouraged me to follow my passion and attend beauty school, which has led me to where I am today.
After years of assisting master stylists, building a clientele, gaining confidence and getting my footing in the industry, I am at a place in my career where I can finally take a breath and see how far I’ve come.
Hi, I’m Kim! Owner and blonde specialist at Modern Blonde, a private suite in Oceanside. I love any and all lightening services! Maintaining the perfect shade of blonde while keeping the hair healthy is always my goal. I educate my clients on products, techniques, and Maintenence tips in order to keep their hair in the best shape possible while going lighter.
I believe continuing education in this industry is so important, so I completed my balayage certification online in 2020. This year, I’m learning how to work with natural texture. I am hoping to help my clients embrace their natural texture as well!
