Kim, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Who is your hero and why? What lessons have you learned from them and how have they influenced your journey?
My hero is Dad! My heroine is my grandma whom one of my business is named in honor of. “I could write a book” on why she’s my heroine and the timeless lessons I learned from her, smile. Nonetheless, I’ll sum the answer in short, she was the eptimoe of unconditional love, wisdom, sacrifice, loyalty, nurturing, elegant, giver, strength, and saintly! I am who I am today because of her unwavering example.

I’m the quintessential wedding officiant – I play a crucial role in the couple’s nuptials. What else should we know about how you took your side hustle and scaled it up into what it is today?
Business and entrepreneurship have intrigued me since my teenage years. I’ve always known I wanted some form of business ownership. Of course, through the years, the industry type changed. Nonetheless, in 2020, I started Subella’s Signing Services, a mobile notary service. As I researched ways to expand the service & offerings, I discovered notaries have the authority to solemnize marriages (in some states.) Unbeknownst to me, being a wedding officiant was a profession and business. I was of the mindset this service was reserved for clergy. Nonetheless, I come from a lineage of clergy, and servanthood is ingrained in my DNA. Therefore, this has been a natural fit – I’m honored, delighted, and overjoyed to assist couples and families during one of the most momentous times of their lives. I don’t take it lightly when Officiant Kim Rumph Services is selected to serve as a preferred vendor, and referrals are one of the highest compliments. One of our goals is to be the “go-to” officiant for weddings/funerals/pet loss globally.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
A vast majority of the population hasn’t attended and/or planned a wedding or funeral in their lifetime. This was a statistic that was a shock to me, even prior to entering the industry, I attended numberous ceremonies. Nonetheless, when the event presents itself our professional officiant services are readily available and happy to help because we realize the significance of ceremonies, and the limitless value they add.
Formal or organized life events are monumental occasions for people whether that’s a wedding, funeral or memorial tribute, in sum it’s celebratory. This is an opportunity to unite and reunite families, friends, and love ones. The average individual partakes in the planning process of these types of events infrequently throughout a lifetime. Therefore, they lean on industry professionals for guidance. Education and awareness of the significance of ceremonies have minimal exposure. This is one of top reasons I’ve chosen this field and stayed in this field. As a professional officiant, my working is meaningful, creative and diverse.
