We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kim Poonai. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kim below.
Kim, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
One word “Passion”. It’s a true devotion to one’s calling if you are lucky enough to find it. For me, the aesthetic industry was something I was truly interested in and Vita Aesthetics was launched in 2020. You must be passionate about your career to succeed and learn from your mistakes. Success is a journey, not a destination. Success requires support and without my family, reps, and clients I would not be where I am today. At the early stage of my business, every milestone, big or small allowed me to develop stronger skills and techniques to enhance my performance. I have been very fortunate to have built close relationships to have access to exclusive medical conferences and advanced trainings to help me improve my skill set, ultimately allowing me to be a more skilled injector for my clients.
Kim, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Kim Poonai and I am a board-certified nurse practitioner and owner of Vita Aesthetics. I started my journey in 2018 when I became certified in Botox and dermal filler. I have always been interested in skincare and aging gracefully. This field can be very difficult to get into without former experience. I initially found it challenging to find work therefore, I decided to start my own business in 2020. I offer neurotoxin, filler, medical-grade skincare, microneedling, and Tetra CO2 laser with CoolPeel.
What sets me apart from others is my caring and genuine personality. I truly want what is best for my clients and will be the first to tell you no if I do not think it will make you look natural and refreshed. I take my time with my clients and extend my visits so that I have the time to educate and answer all my client’s questions and concerns.
I am most proud of the growth my business has experienced over the past 3 years. I was named “Best Medical Spa” by our local newspaper this year. I have to thank my clients for their votes and support. I am so blessed to be able to do what I am truly passionate about.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
The best source of my new clients is word of mouth and Google reviews. I am fortunate to have amazing clients who really want to see me succeed. They refer friends and family members often. I have over a hundred heartfelt reviews on Google which have attracted so many new clients.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I built my social media audience by posting often and engaging with my followers. Social media can be a full-time job. For the first two years, I did my own social media posts and posted content 4-5 times a week. This year I hired a social media manager who helps with organizing my posts and content weekly. My advice for someone just starting out is to follow people who are local and could be potential clients and engage with their posts and content. It is great to get to know your followers and let them get to know you.
