Hi Kim, thanks for joining us today. Let’s jump right into the heart of things. Outsiders often think businesses or industries have much larger profit margins than they actually do – the reason is that outsiders are often unaware of the biggest challenges to profitability in various industries – what’s the biggest challenge to profitability in your industry?
I know that profitability in the hospitality industry can be difficult due to various factors such as food costs, labor expenses, and competition. Often times, restaurants struggling to balance quality ingredients and prices, while maintaining staff and adapting to changing consumer preferences. It’s a complex challenge!
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I own Kichi Taiyaki – Japanese Desserts concept and operate Mochinut franchise in central Florida along with my partners.
-Kichi Taiyaki-“Kichi” a Japanese word that translates to English means “fortunate”. We feel so fortunate to be able to serve our customer the best Japanese desserts in the Tampa Bay. We are looking to open more locations for Kichi in the near future.
At Kichi Taiyaki, we work to focus on quality and consistency in the products we provide to our customer. Our desserts are made fresh to order and are made from the highest quality ingredients.
Our taiyaki waffles, soufflé pancakes, bingsu, boba are made fresh on-site and our soft serve ice cream is made in small batches to preserve freshness of how a real soft serve should taste.
-Mochinut is a popular brand for mochi donuts, Korean ricedog, Mochi donut is a donut that originated from Hawaii which is a combination of American doughnuts and Japanese mochi. We currently have 4 stores already opened and 4 more opening soon. Our plan is to open 20 more Mochinut locations across central Florida within the next few years.
How did you build your audience on social media?
First, you have to define your target audience and content goals. Choose platforms that align with your audience and content style. Consistently post engaging content, collaborate or engage with other users. Be authentic, patient, and responsive. Building a strong social media presence takes time and effort!

To build a strong reputation within the hospitality industry, I focused on deliver exceptional customer service. Ensure high-quality food and beverage offerings. Maintain cleanliness and attention to detail in facilities. Engage with customers through social media. Develop unique experiences and amenities. Foster a positive work culture .
