We were lucky to catch up with Kim Moh recently and have shared our conversation below.
Kim, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. The first dollar your business earns is always special and we’d love to hear how your brand made its first dollar of revenue.
When I first started my business, I knew I had to build credibility in the field as a Fashion Stylist even though I had been doing it for other brands for years.
I started looking for networking events, local and out of state. During these events I met other local creatives and made it known I was open to collaborate. This led to my work being published in 2 fashion magazines.
One day, I received an appointment notification from my website. I reached out to the client to find out what her needs were. During the conversation she told me she had seen my work on social media and was excited to work with me.
The client booked me for an editorial shoot and if I could have done a cartwheel in that moment, I would have.
All of the hard work, time and energy I had put into building my Brand was beginning to pay off.
Kim, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

Any advice for managing a team?
I am all about transparency, clear communication, empowering, and celebrating wins.
I always make sure each individual knows the amount of work involved in every project. A photo-shoot or a fashion show is not always as glamorous as it may seem. There is a lot of work that goes on behind the scenes, starting with preparations all the way to securing the clothing.
It is important to make sure the team has all the details. When you are working with so many people at any given moment, communication is very important and knowing who your audience is and the best way to deliver information.
I empower my team to make decisions. I encourage them to leverage their talents and take charge of their development.
We celebrate wins and client compliments. Reminding the team regularly, they are a huge part of the business’s success. They will appreciate the recognition.
It is important to make time for your associates. I have regular touch bases to address any concerns or areas they need help.
Leading by example. I never ask my team to do something I haven’t done or not willing to do. It’s important they know you are invested as much as they are.
And let’s not forget to have fun!!!
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
-Getting involved in the community -Building an online presence
-Providing a quality experience
-Maintaining relationships with clients
-Consistency
