We recently connected with Kim Miller and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Kim, thanks for joining us today. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
I’m deeply blessed and honored to be the child of two incredible parents. My mother led our family with unwavering dedication and a remarkable work ethic—commuting two hours each day while still caring for me and my siblings. Even now, in her late 60s, she continues to show up with passion and commitment for her team. Though I lost my father when I was just five, his legacy lives on through the kindness and creativity he expressed as a singer and musician. From both of them, I inherited a deep respect for hard work, the freedom to create, and a heart for serving others with excellence and care.

Kim, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’ve spent over 18 years in the real estate and mortgage industry, driven by a deep passion for helping people achieve ownership of both residential and commercial properties. Recently, I launched an initiative dedicated to restoring the rich legacy of Houston’s historic neighborhoods—revitalizing historic homes and transforming them into high-quality, affordable housing. In addition to my work in real estate, I’m equally passionate about health and wellness, and I’m committed to being a trusted resource for products, education, and community support in that space.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
I build by starting with a strong foundation rooted in integrity and a commitment to service. Whether I’m working on a real estate project, launching an initiative, or fostering relationships, I focus on creating something sustainable and meaningful. I take the time to understand the needs of those I serve, always looking for innovative solutions to add value and make a lasting impact. I believe in a collaborative approach, drawing on the strengths of others and ensuring that everything I build is done with care, quality, and purpose.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
One of the most important things I had to unlearn in business was approaching deals, projects, and clientele with money as the primary motivation. Early on, it’s easy to fall into the mindset of chasing income, but I’ve learned that true, lasting success comes from leading with service. When I shifted my focus to genuinely serving others—understanding their needs, providing real value, and building trust—everything changed. Not only did the work become more fulfilling, but the results were stronger and more sustainable. Service, not profit, is what drives meaningful impact and long-term growth.
