Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kim Miller. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Kim, thanks for joining us today. Do you take vacations? How do you keep things going – any advice for entrepreneurs who feel like they can’t step away from their business for a short vacation?
We feel we need to step away from our business from time to time to enjoy life and each other. We’re able to step back, relax and take a breath from our daily routine. We don’t need to spend a lot of money or go extravagant places. Taking time to be together as a married couple without phones, the business and paperwork is a way to keep our marriage strong and a positive working relationship.

Kim, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
We started Miller’s Off Road Adventures with our visitor base in mind. When you come to Groveland, visitors first priority is Yosemite National Park. After your amazing visit to this iconic park visitors look to see what else is there to do in our little town. So we decided that a Jeep touring business would be perfect in the area. Taking visitors into the Stanislaus National Forest who may have never been in the forest or seen the beauty in the landscapes, nature and wildlife. The excitement of crossing a flowing river, the trees and fish that the families experience has been amazing to be a part of. We are extremely proud of our community and many businesses helping each other grow and support the town of Groveland.

Can you talk to us about how your side-hustle turned into something more.
We decided to start Jeep touring business as a retired couple. We figured we could work part time and meet people and show people how much fun it is to drive off road and get a little dirty! We have some friends who own ECHO Adventure Cooperative. They were very excited for a new adventure company to come along and very happy to help us with advertising and introducing us to Tuolumne County Visitors Center. Between the two, we were launched into success! We were taught about social media and advertising. We we’re also able to take social media professionals, travel writers and bloggers out on tours and show them what our business was about and what kind of adventures visitors could expect in Groveland. After that, we went world wide with advertising of our small town and numerous adventures you could experience and explore outside of Yosemite.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Social media, local lodges, word of mouth and hard work have been the best source of advertising for new clients.
