Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kim Miller. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Kim thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about the best advice you’ve ever given to a client? (Please note this response is for education/entertainment purposes only and shouldn’t be construed as advice for the reader)
I think the best advice I have given a client (or clients as I tell a lot of them this) is to give yourself grace where you are. So many of us, especially females, are so hard on ourselves. We have a curve ball in life and we punish ourselves for ‘slacking’ our our fitness and wellness picture. There are going to be ebbs and flows in life – so should there be in your self-care and wellness picture. There will be seasons where you take amazing, perfect care of yourself; workouts are consistent and on-point, nutrition is amazing, you are taking fantastic self care steps and everything feels PHENOMENAL. Then there will be seasons where life comes in; illness, family events, stress, etc and you have to be able to feel ok if you are falling behind in some of those areas listed above. You can always start fresh, anew when the time is right for you, personally.

Kim, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I decided to give personal training a try as a ‘second act’. My job out of college was in sports and event marketing and I loved it – but I did not love a 9-5 desk job and I needed something different after starting to have children (I now have two). After a brief stint as a SAHM, I needed something a little bit more.
I was working out with a friend and she said very off-the-cuff, “You should do this as a job”. After taking care of myself for so many years as an athlete and by learning from some of the best trainers in the business, I gave it a go. It started with a few clients in my neighborhood and quickly grew from there on mostly referrals. Today, I have over 30 clients, a booming strength group following and have added nutrition to the mix as well. I am also excited to be adding a wellness retreat – my first ever – in October 2022 when I take 6 clients up to the north GA mountains.
My passion has been ignited in this job – I am empathetic by nature and want to help nearly everyone I come across. This job gives me the ability to potentially change lives and create community by bringing my clients together. I care individually about each and every one of my clients, their goals and how we are going to get there together.
Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
Definitely listening to my clients and taking their advice. So many trainers rely solely on certifications and education to do their training. It is so important to listen and learn along the way in this job because it is definitely a job based on the people you are working with specifically. I also rely on seeking out information on social media – with a grain of salt because everyone is an ‘expert’.

Have you ever had to pivot?
I got married in my late 20’s and I, like most people, wanted it to be my forever family. Unfortunately, things took a turn and I was faced with divorce with two young boys. It was at this point that I knew I needed to do better for no one but myself. I needed to find my happy. This meant finding something to do everyday that I could be passionate about. It meant being the best mother I knew how to be by also watching and listening to those setting examples all around me. It meant finding a career that was fulfilling not only in my bank account but in my life. I am so lucky, blessed (and with hard work) to have found a sweet spot with this as a trainer.
