We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kim Johnson. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kim below.

Kim, appreciate you joining us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?

Seven years ago I found myself in a dark place and so unhappy with myself and my life. I was so tired of allowing my traumas to define me and weigh me down. I was ready for a change. I became curious about crystals and the healing properties that so many people claimed they held. I bought my first Rose Quartz crystal and started practicing self love. Shortly after I began to meditate and use positive affirmations to really change my mind set. I started healing those traumas. Over the last few years I have used crystals, affirmations, reiki, shadow work, therapy and so many more tools to find peace within and really love myself and my life. My mission is to help others find and use the tools to heal their spirit as well.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers

I’ve always been a bit of a free spirit with a huge heart but several years ago the traumas of my life really started to smother me. I have spent years taking steps to heal those traumas and my spirit. My healing journey has been so incredible that I knew I needed to share the tools I gained with others. My journey started with crystals so I knew that was where I needed to start with my business.

Willow and Jade Healing offers a variety of quality crystals in all shapes, sizes and price ranges. We have recently started offering reiki charged intention candles that are great for meditation as well as affirmation and oracle decks. I think what really sets us apart from other shops though, is the inclusion of education material in almost every package. We add crystal information cards with every crystal we have one for and the ones we don’t have one for we offer books in the shop to help identify the crystals and learn all about their wonderful properties. Keep a look out in 2023 as we are working to bring our beautiful community sound healing sessions and tools, as well as local and distance reiki.

I am truly proud of everything Willow and Jade Healing has accomplished and all its growth. We have hit over six figures in sales since our launch in March 2022. Which we couldn’t have done without our beautiful community full of love and support. But what I am most proud of, is the difference we have made in the lives of our little community on social media. We do live sales on TikTok (@willowandjadehealing) almost every Saturday at 6pm EST and most of our customers start receive their packages around Thursday or Friday and the messages I receive from them about how it is just what they needed or how much joy it brought them just absolutely fills my heart and keeps me going.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?

I spent over 10 years managing businesses for others and as a manger my focus was always numbers and bottom lines. I’ve had to unlearn that and make sure it isn’t the only focus in my business. It goes without saying that numbers are important for any business to keep going, however, I have found that by being my authentic self and showing up for my customers I have achieved more in my business than if I had spent my energy focused on numbers. Be good to people and they will be good to you.

Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?

I actually started Willow and Jade Healing with $5,000. I’m putting the figure out there so others can see that you don’t need a ton of money or loans to get started. For me, I believe it helped that I shifted my mindset about the money. Instead of thinking it would take forever to get the money I started thinking about where I could get enough just to get the licensing and then the branding and logo. I took it one step at a time and doors started to open for me. My tax return was doubled and my husbands work bonus was doubled. We worked hard and saved where we could. I invested $3,000 in products to sell and about $2,000 in licensing, logo branding, shipping and other supplies needed for my office to function.
