We recently connected with Kim Huenecke and have shared our conversation below.
Kim, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
Creating the Worldwide Women’s Film Festival at allows women and men to have a voice and showcase their films.

Kim, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
We started the film festival back in 2018. Our mission is to showcase women filmmakers and the telling of their stories. Men can submit films to our festival. All films need to have one women behind the camera in a principal role. We receive films from all the world. To date, we have had films from 21 countries. We are a two half day festival. The festival usually takes place in March around International Women’s Day. We are diverse and inclusive and everyone is welcome to our festival.
I proud that this film festival exists for women filmmakers. We receive many “thank you” for having this festival for women filmmakers. We also get many compliments about our programming and how helpful we are to the filmmakers attending the festival.
Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
The book that really spoke to me was “The Road Less Travelled’ by M. Scott Peck. The first line in the book is “Life is hard.” Yes, it is hard but how you react to it makes it heaven or hell. I also follow Dee Wallace. Besides being an actor she is also a well known healer. She has a call in show called “Conscious Creation” on Sundays at 9am PST. The phone number is 206-402-0100- Pin 161329#.

In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
I believe society needs to support the artists and creatives. That means buying the art, donating to a film to get made, and or go to the play or concert. I would like to see an emphasis on the arts. The arts help people to express their feelings and also what is going on in society. I would like artists and creatives to have support from the government. I am not sure what that would look like. Maybe giving the artists a stipend to live on or maybe giving them a mentor to guide them.
