We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kim Fischer a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Kim, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s start with a fun one – what’s something you believe that most people in your industry (or in general) disagree with?
Most public speaking coaches start by asking, “What’s your offer?” or “What’s your signature story?” because their primary goal is to help you make money. They focus on your external voice—your call to action, what you’re selling from the stage, and the story you’re telling. While these elements are important, I believe they shouldn’t be the starting point. If you don’t have internal confidence, trust in yourself, or the ability to connect emotionally with your audience, it doesn’t matter how polished your story or sales pitch is. The foundation of impactful public speaking begins with your internal voice.
What makes my approach different is that I prioritize developing the internal voice first—your gut, intuition, heart, and passion. When you have a strong connection with your internal voice, selling on stage becomes natural. You’ll be able to speak with enthusiasm and conviction, and you’ll know exactly what to offer because it’s aligned with your true self. Many professionals assume that their expertise or passion is enough to drive results, but there’s often a gap between what they feel internally and their ability to articulate it to the world. This gap becomes even more apparent when a microphone or camera magnifies their insecurities.
No matter how much external success someone has—degrees, financial wealth, or client testimonials—self-doubt and low self-worth can still hold them back. If you seek external validation, you’ll never reach your full potential. My coaching focuses on addressing your relationship with self-worth and self-trust before anything else. You have to root out self-doubt and cultivate a deep belief that you are the one meant to speak on your topic. Until you solidify that inner belief, you’ll always struggle with others’ expectations and judgments, and that will limit your growth and impact.
In my view, becoming a powerful, influential speaker requires doing the energetic, mindset, and somatic work to overcome self-doubt and solidify self-belief. Only then can you truly own the stage or any platform. Instead of starting with external elements like your story or sales pitch, I encourage my clients to work on their internal game first. Your inner dialogue is exactly what will come out of your mouth, and it shapes how the world perceives you.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I first started teaching yoga in 2007, renting space and subbing for other teachers to gain experience. Eventually, I landed a solid position at a local studio and was promoted to manager. By 2011, I opened my own studio, Lotus Life Yoga Center, which became the gem of the community with two locations, 30 employees, and a thriving student base. We offered yoga teacher training, Costa Rica retreats, and workshops, creating a beloved space for growth.
However, in 2011, I felt a strong call to return to school and finish my undergrad degree. A lifelong learner, I knew better than to ignore this pull. So, I sold my studio’s assets, leaped into higher education, and completed my undergrad before earning a graduate degree in Human Computer Interaction. This led me to a career as a User Experience (UX) Designer, where I thrived in a high-paying job while continuing to teach yoga and grow my online presence through classes and retreats.
By 2021, the exhaustion of working two full-time jobs set in. My heart longed to return to full-time entrepreneurship. I threw my arms up and asked the Universe for help. That night, a friend informed me that my former studio space was available for lease. I knew this was the sign I had asked for. Within 9 days, I secured financing, signed the lease, and quit my UX job to resurrect Lotus Life Yoga.
While reopening a yoga studio during the pandemic presented its challenges, it allowed me to break free from corporate life and reconnect with my community. This journey was more than just reopening a studio; it became the bridge to my fully online empowerment business, where I help women step into their authentic voices and power today.
My expertise extends far beyond the yoga studio. I’m a certified hypnotherapist with deep training in psychology, neuroscience, and over 20 years of study in Eastern philosophy. I’ve built transformative programs combining vocal mastery, mindset work, and somatic practices to help impact-driven women trust their own judgment, master their communication, and make decisions aligned with their inner wisdom.
But my journey wasn’t without its own struggles. I used to be medicated for stage fright. Speaking in public made my heart race, blood pressure spike, and my body break out in hives. It happened at work, with friends, even on Zoom calls. I thought I would never succeed. But everything shifted when I began using my yoga, spiritual practices, and neuroscience training to manifest the confident speaker I wanted to be. I threw away the medication, overcame my fear, and started enjoying public speaking.
Now, I teach entrepreneurs, leaders, and professionals how to do the same—overcome the fear, embrace their bodies, and speak with power and influence. My mission is to empower men & women to be seen, heard, and make a lasting impact in both their personal and professional lives. My business accomplishes this through immersive memberships, high-level masterminds and 1:1 coaching, and exclusive in-person events and retreats.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
In my journey to attract new clients, I really had to carve out my own path and embrace what truly works for me. I realized that my superpower lies in connecting with people in person. While I once thought I had to fit the mold of social media marketing—churning out Facebook posts, Instagram reels, YouTube videos, or even selling through DMs—I discovered something crucial: it’s all about authenticity and connection.
I took a step back and asked myself two essential questions: What do I genuinely enjoy doing, and what do my clients consistently rave about when they interact with me? Time and time again, I heard that the magic happens when they meet me face-to-face—whether they’ve seen me speak on stage, met me at an expo, or joined one of my in-person events.
In those moments, I can be my true self. My energy is palpable, and I can connect with them on a deeper level. I’ve trained myself to be intentional with my voice and body language, ensuring that I convey trust, passion, and enthusiasm. This is where I see the fastest conversions, and it’s now a cornerstone of my marketing strategy.
Instead of banging my head against the wall trying to force social media to work for me, I leaned into my strengths. Now, whether I’m running an event, speaking on stage, or engaging as a participant, in-person interactions are at the heart of my marketing approach. It’s all about fostering genuine connections that lead to meaningful transformations for my clients.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
As a recovering people pleaser, I’ve had to confront the natural instinct to try to speak to everyone. Initially, I thought that if I addressed a broad audience, I’d attract more clients and increase my revenue. But that approach was fundamentally flawed. Growing up, I learned that fitting in and being the “nice person” was essential for survival. However, in business, that mindset can hinder your success.
I had to unlearn the belief that speaking to everyone was the key to thriving in my business. Instead, I realized the importance of being clear about who I am, who I’m not, and who I work with. This clarity leads to better transactions and fosters a more ethical relationship between me and my clients.
Transitioning from the yoga world, where I primarily worked with individuals seeking healing, to becoming a holistic empowerment coach and now a public speaking and intuitive business coach, required a significant mindset shift. I had to accept that I couldn’t take everyone on this journey with me. There was a fear that if I was honest about my new direction, I would lose potential income. But I learned about the abundance mindset: when you change and speak your truth, some people may leave, but this ultimately helps align you with those who are meant to work with you next.
I started applying these principles to my marketing. I realized I was creating programs that weren’t aligned with the needs of my former clients. This misalignment led to some individuals seeking refunds because they didn’t resonate with my offerings. I came to understand that healing and transformation attract two very different audiences.
By getting clear about my message on social media, I began to attract the right clients—those seeking transformation rather than just healing. It was scary at first, but necessary to clean up the energy and intention behind my marketing. This clarity has allowed both my clients and me to have extraordinary experiences together.
I recognized that my people-pleasing tendencies and scarcity mindset had to go. I had to stop carrying past clients into my future and instead focus on speaking directly to the clients I want to work with. By being upfront about who my programs are for and what they can expect, I’ve created a more abundant business environment. This approach has not only increased my revenue but has also improved my clients’ satisfaction and lifetime value.
Now, I feel more empowered, integral, and safe in my business because I have that certainty in my body. Establishing clear boundaries has transformed my approach, leading to incredible growth and fulfillment for both myself and my clients.
