We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kim Fawcett. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kim below.
Hi Kim, thanks for joining us today. Was there a defining moment in your professional career? A moment that changed the trajectory of your career?
As a professional in my mid-50’s I have now journeyed through several career resets. Each building on the other and ultimately building into a passion driven leadership role at a non-profit in Connecticut. (2015-2021) I think I was always heart centered and passion driven, always wanting to find work that was meaningful and “made a difference”. I did it the traditional and society expected way, a 9-5 office job, long hours, sacrifice of me and my time and effort…. so much effort to work longer and smarter and harder to make that difference.
COVID was the first turning point. Working even longer through layers of stress to lead my team and our organization through the chaos while we cared for vulnerable populations of people.
Uncovering years, decades of silent abuse in my 30 year marriage was the next turning point. Realizing that gaslighting is not just a concept being written about it is happening. It was happening to me for so long and it had been happening in layers like a web being weaved around me slowly and methodically.
There are three types of gaslighting happening in the world and I was under the manipulatin of all three. First, our emotions are denied and we are told they are wrong. Second, our memory of events is challenged, “I never said that”. “You misunderstood or you are confused.” the worst and maybe most vicious is when your personal items are hid in plain site and the person hiding them watches you look for them and then swoops in to play the hero and find them. I started to peel apart this thread of what had been occurring in my relationship in February 2021. A moment in time when a friend sent me articles and studies into the art of gaslighting and suggested this might be occurring in my life. All of the information was familiar and the answer, was to begin to document everything in writing. Words said, actions taken so I could have a tangible record of my story to refer back to when I started to feel crazy and destabilized from the lies. It worked. Unfortunately.
One thread after the next unwound. Lies. manipulations. cruelty from the person that was supposed to be my best freind, who was the father of my children who had been my life partner and yet I was his vicitm… nothing more.
It was the combination of these two things being exhaused from work, life, being a mother and wife, all things to everyone and constantly feeling like a failure at all of it that I made a huge decision. Take a pause and do a reset. Just for me without permission from anyone but me.
I headed to Costa Rica and the trauma and tradgedy of my story began to become something beautiful. In scripture they say God builds “beauty from ashes” and my first journey into the jungle my ashes began the process of finding that beauty. There were spiritual encounters in the jungle and upon my return home, awakening of my soul and spirit into the mystery of the unknown world, A decision to leave behind that 9-5 career I had worked so hard to build, new boundaries for that husband that ultimately he could not adjust to a shedding of my entire life, house, family, friends, social standing. All of it one piece at a time was released. Painful, purposeful, powerful shifting.
I returned to school at 52 and today have a Masters in Transformative Spirituality, am a guided immersive experience leader and coach. Using tools like stillness, silence, guided meditation, contemplation, journaling to guide seekers like me into and through their own journey of awareness and self discovery. I founded Awaken Your Soul in 2022 and began the process of trying to build a spirit lead, passion driven business. My mission statement is to provide programs and services that help people awaken their soul and align with their calling. I do this through week long and weekend retreats, online guided group sessions and one on one coaching. I am still a work in progress, a wounded healer on my own journey. But I also know the world cannot continue on its broken path, mental health and addiction health is at a crisis, we have war and greed and chaos in society while we destroy our planet. We are at a tipping point of change and I am hopeful that companies like Awaken Your Soul provide the tools and redirection needed. One person at a time.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I shared some of this in the previous question… my turning point.

and breath work that calms the nervous system, stimulates your creative brain, and awakens your soul. Through
workshops and a daily guided reflection journal we’ll honor what we’ve accomplished in our lives as we explore what we
are ready to create next.
It is difficult to say what program I am most proud of. I like the week long program because it is am immersion and a chance for people to do a total reset. I see beauty from ashes with almost everyone that sets aside time to care for themselves in this way. I love the intimate vulnerability of the coaching because I have the honor to come along side someone who is a seeker and that is me. I might have a tad bit more wisdom or clairty but often I am learning as we go too. I started Sacred Conversations this past April 2025. This was from an inspired call to provide a space for people to do inner work and take an inner journey that is simple, affordable and accessible. Two months in I love that I have created a place for people to do a quick time out and am already seeing people source their own inner shifts.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I suppose when you start a business, especially a life change business, noone thinks its real or that you will make it work. I faced that and still face some looks of “that is not a real business or a real thing.” I am three years in, have hosted 6 retreats, worked with hundreds of people from 15 countries all of this in person and online and yet I still feel the push back. The belief and strength have to be inner and always fall back to my deepest feeling that the world and its people need more skills to nourish their inner being to show up as kinder more compassionate humans for their life, family, work and parters.
On the practical side the resilience has been in the constant, at every corner, challenge it is to start, run and manage a small business. Cash flow, sales. — urgh.. I continue to naviate. Legal, accounting all still learning and I take it one peice at a ttime. TECHNOLOGY. OMG!!! a dumpster fire of chaos at every juncture and I just slow down and learn through the challenges and there are som many. I have made mistakes too, trusted people I should not have, been taken advantage of by vendors and providers.
I think the additional resilience is in adjusting what I am bringing to the market. Originally I set out to run the week long program only. Then followed the journeyn for requests for day long experiences and realized online is a way to connect with adn reachmore people. This year the shift into Sacred Conversations would potenitally mean the retreats are a once annual experience and the online work would become the cornerstone of my offerings.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I am unlearning the 9-5 workday. I still struggle with the guilt and feeling from myself and society that I should be “working” during those hours of each Monday through Friday.
To be honest my actual work flow is completely counter culture. I feel inspired and work uninterupted for hours.. in a flow so to speak. I take long walks to contemplate deeply, next steps. Often my work can look like me sitting in silence just thinking. I work nights and weekends if I feel like it and then I do not work at all. I do accommodate traditional hours for clients and I enjoy that but their rhythm is no longer mine.
