We were lucky to catch up with Kim Duncan recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Kim, thanks for joining us today. What were some of the most unexpected problems you’ve faced in your career and how did you resolve those issues?
I got retired by covid in 2020. In 2022 I had a heart attack and in January of 2023 I had a stroke where I could not remember how to get home from a block away from a house I lived in for 36 years. When I could finally make decisions for myself, after almost 2 years in clouds , I found I could paint and now I am an artist that enjoys life after life. My wife divorced me after 46 years because of the dimensia l have from agent orange from Vietnam and Thailand. I realized, when I got 100 percent benefits because of the pact act, I get to strat my all over!!!! I’ve done a couple of art fairs and found a spiritual companion.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My new world includes more paintings, and I’ve started making and selling 3d printed items. With Ai I can take a picture and print the subject on the 3d printer.
Also I seem to have become very spiritual and my art is highly spiritual. I am awakening to find my highest self.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
My life took a tragic turn right after the stroke. I couldn’t make daily decisions and had to use my GPS on my phone to find my way. I learned to work around the ” I can’t make a decision thing”. So I started making my way forward and found I was awakening and started meditating and preforming breathing exercises to further my path. The paintings and the spiritual exercises gave me the resilience to continue moving forward.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
I hear from other people and artists that do or have artwork but have no idea what to do with it. My vision is to build a art studio/gallery so artists can meet and a place to show their
Particular art. I plan on doing classes for painting for older folks.
