We were lucky to catch up with Kim Diamond recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Kim thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
I’m Kim Diamond and I’m a South Dakota-based holistic wellness coach and I help women build self-love + confidence so they can create a life they’re absolutely in love with.
I’m a wife, a new mom + dog mom, a former elementary school teacher, a recovering people pleaser + perfectionist, and the owner of Kim Diamond Wellness.
After years of living a life that was spent clouded by people pleasing, conforming to societal ideals, and striving for perfection over happiness, I made a bold move to quit my teaching career and move across the country with my fiance to a state I had only been to once, I decided that instead of living my life to please others, I was going to live my life with and on purpose to please myself.
But what did purposeful living mean to me? What did I enjoy doing? What made me happy? How can I care for myself in away that releases the all-or-nothing approach of a “healthy” lifestyle? After stripping away any sense of normalcy and the roles that I once Itied myself to, I had the opportunity to discover who Kim was and what she wanted her life to become.
This meant self-discovery through…creating a life that pleased me instead of pleasing others, a life that made me happy, joyful, and full of confidence, and a life that made me realize how truly loved I was, not only by those around me but by myself.
On my mission to create that life from the ground up, I gained an even greater mission in the process. To empower other women to do the same. To stop settling for ‘fine’ and to start asking for and believing that they are worthy of more. To encourage them to take an intentional role in their lives by taking ownership of their happiness, their day-to-day routines and practices, and their wellness so that they can become the version of their selves that truly feels loved, cared for, and confident.
Through one on one coaching, group coaching, and virtual workshops, Kim is creating a community of women who are embodying self-love, self-worth, self-confidence, and a whole lot of purpose.
Kim, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Hi! I’m Kim. I’m your self-love and confidence coach and I help women embrace themselves + their inner knowing so they can become confident, self-loving, & authentic women…and never in my life did I think that I would be a business owner, but here we are.
I first got into the coaching industry because I quit my teaching career and wanted + needed to do something that felt more aligned with what I wanted my life to look and feel like. I started researching what I could do that would combine my love for cooking and eating nourishing foods, fitness, helping people learn, making people feel loved and taken care of, and sharing my passion for learning and embodying new things…and landed on becoming a certified holistic health and wellness coach through the International Association of Wellness Professionals.
Little did I know, diving into coaching and starting my own business would completely transform my life. It’s been a journey of self-discovery, growth, and empowerment like never before.
Now, through my various offerings like my monthly self-love collective membership, virtual coaching experiences, group programs tailored to female entrepreneurs, and personalized one-on-one coaching, I create a safe space for women to explore their inner selves.
Whether it’s breaking free from self-doubt, embracing their unique qualities, or finding their authentic voice, I’m here to
lovingly guide them every step of the way. My goal is to help women tap into their inner wisdom, build unshakeable confidence, and live authentically.
What sets me apart? Well, I believe it’s my genuine passion for empowering women to live their best lives. Plus, I’ve literally been in your shoes—I know firsthand the challenges of stepping into your true self and owning your worth. I’ve experienced the set backs and the fears and know how to move through them.
I’m incredibly proud of the community we’ve built together and the transformations I’ve witnessed in my clients. And if there’s one thing I want you to know about me and my brand, it’s this: I’m here to cheer you on, support you, and help you realize your limitless potential. Let’s embark on this journey of self-discovery and empowerment together. because doing it alone is way less fun!
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
When I left my career in education and moved to South Dakota, it would have been incredibly easy for me to choose what I knew over the unknown.
Instead of choosing to substitute teach or to fill my life with things that weren’t actually aligned with what I truly wanted to be doing, I chose the unknown—and gave myself the time and freedom to explore what I am truly meant to do.
In my journey to become a certified holistic health and wellness coach, I realized that I had been living my life in fear of “what if…” and living my life pleasing others and not doing what pleases me. Instead of letting these fears and habits stop me from moving forward, I chose to move through them. Going on this journey I became the version of myself that chooses a little bit of discomfort and unknown over comfort and complacency.
I became the version of me who loves herself enough to persevere through the tough stuff, feel my feelings, and honor what I truly want and need—even when it’s hard.
In making that choice, I learned who I am, how to love myself, and that fostering a relationship with yourself is the most loving thing you can do.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
Self-love isn’t selfish, it’s non-negotiable.
Self-love is one of those phrases that is thrown around quite a bit, it has almost become cliche to talk about…almost.
Over my journey to become a coach and business owner, I’ve gotten to know myself at a deep level. In building this relationship with myself, the true meaning and importance has revealed itself to me.
To learn the true meaning of self-love, I had to unlearn what I thought it meant. Social media, society, our families, hustle culture, and the fast-paced life that we live, pulls us away from who we truly are at our core. I think most of us can relate to seeing a friend, influencer, or fellow business owner on social media and thinking–“I want to be like THAT.”
And while inspiration and someone/something to look up to can give us something to “work towards” it also leads us to believe that to be loved/successful/liked we need to be more like someone else, and less like ourselves. When in reality, the opposite is true. If we truly want to love ourselves, to be happy, successful, and confident, and to build businesses that we love, we need to be be MORE like ourselves.
Self-love is knowing yourself on the deepest level and not judging yourself for your failures, challenges, or how many times you fell down before you got back up.
Self-love is showing up for yourself every single day and honoring what you need in that moment, without feeling guilty that you didn’t do more.
Self-love is being and becoming the version of yourself that you want to be, not the version of yourself that you think you “should” be.
Self-love is embracing the unknown, stepping out of your comfort zone, and acknowledging that you don’t have to “fake it till you make it anymore,” because the truth is, we’re all just figuring it out as we go.
Loving yourself isn’t selfish, it’s non-negotiable to your happiness.
