Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kiko Rodriguez. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Kiko thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. I’m sure there have been days where the challenges of being an artist or creative force you to think about what it would be like to just have a regular job. When’s the last time you felt that way? Did you have any insights from the experience?
I am happy as a creator. I have two creative worlds, artist and designer. I enjoy both of them but I spend more of my day-by-day time as a designer working in an office. Often I wonder what it would be if it have a more balanced time between the two disciplines or even more art time. Design has more rigid thinking, art is more open, and is more “Yourself”, so, sometimes I miss being myself when I am in the creative processes.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I was born to do what I do. Since I was a little kid I was interested in arts, drawing, music, and movies. I was born in a rural town in the countryside of Cuba. My family supported my art interest since then. I never stopped drawing and creating, with the years, studies, and experience my work became bold, and solid, and became my way of life. I think humans are eternal students, there is always something new to learn, that is exciting, and it is what has us moving forward, awake, and passionate.
I consider myself a very skillet creative, I have the feeling that I can do whatever I wanted to do, and I don’t feel there is a limit for create. So, I try to use these skills to support and improve communication, if possible to do this world a better world and help people to connect with other people, ideas, products, positive messages, etc.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
I always have said that I am so lucky to during my whole life doing what I most love to do. I never had to work out of the creative field. There are hard jobs out there, and non-enjoyable, a good amount of them even do not involve any kind of feelings or passion. I feel a lot of respect for people in this kind of work. So I thank every day of my life to do what I love to do. I feel very lucky and thankful.
We’d love to hear your thoughts on NFTs. (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice)
I think NFTs are here to stay. I have my particular vision of it, I think they are not what most people think, this fever of becoming a millionaire with NFTs is in the past, it had its moment for very few that caught the wave. NFTs are going to be the way to validate the authenticity of digital assets in the future, for me this is the real future of NFTs, everything else is secondary. This validation represents in real life what happens when you buy traditional art, for example. Until now in the digital world, nothing has been closer to this validation than NFTs.
