We were lucky to catch up with KiKi Tatum recently and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, KiKi thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?

My whole life I’ve always had a passion for knowledge. I’ve always wanted to know the deeper meaning in everything. I’m an optimist so I like to dream of the bigger picture and very talented in many things. Growing up i was always fascinated with being a boss or owning a business, at the time i didn’t know what “IT” was that I wanted to pursue in. So, I’ve dug a little deeper in journaling and began writing what i wanted in life and what I was really passionate and talented in and re-learning myself all over again. During that time, I invested my time in discovering how different herbs could help heal the body, the different energies crystals could bring to your environment, and the miracles nature could bring to our everyday lives. These things helped ground me and benefited myself and family. Thats when my passion became a business idea. I felt happy doing what i love, and what I love doing was helping others on their journeys in return.

My name is KiKi Tatum CEO of Serenity Treasures1111.

Serenity Treasures1111 specializes in holistic healing products. We provide healing crystal/stone bracelets. Each crystal/stone jewelry has its own unique healing benefits.

Aromatherapy intention candles made with LOVE and 100% soy wax. Each candle has its own unique scent using a blend of different essential oils for the Aromatherapy effect. Each candle is dressed with different herbs and flowers for specific meanings.

I started collecting different types of Crystals based off their energy and healing properties… I then started doing more research on natural healing remedies and holistic healing techniques. That’s when picked up my candle-making hobby as well… I was always fascinated with candles and the aromatherapy scent it would give off and how magical one flame could light up a whole room. I’ve learned the meaning of different candle colors and how different scents could really change your mood on things. During the pandemic, like most people I lost my job and gained a lot of free time on my hands. So, my
hobbies started to really pick up and I decided to create a business out of creating the things I love and passionate about.

Owning a business definitely has its challenges. But I am proud of not giving up on myself, because i am always looking at the bigger picture and ways to improve my craft.

I dedicate investing in myself that way I can invest into others, and I feel that is the most important goal in my business.

How did you build your audience on social media?

Building followers and clientele on social media was sort of a challenge for me. It started off as only family and close friends sharing my content and products. Until I started doing pop up shops to expand and spread my business, then it became a word-of-mouth thing. I’ve learned that the key to building your business/ products on social media… is CONSISTANCY. posting constantly up to 2-3 times a day goes a long way. Even if your post reach 1 follower a day. it will gradually increase.

How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?

I started out funding my business out of pocket… well I’m still currently funding my business out of pocket. I’ll admit it’s a tough cookie. I picked up a small part time job just to help fund my business. I know that sounds a little cliche, but you have to have money to make money. That statement within itself is so true. During this past year i opened up a business bank account to help separate my business from personal funds, and that helped me keep things organized tremendously.
