We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kiki Risque . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kiki below.
Kiki , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
While celebrating a friends divorce, I got offered this opportunity to not just perform but produce my own show. I confidently said yes, knowing dam well I have absolutely no experience with this realm of work! Once it became real I knew I had to make something happen – and as terrifying as it was and knowing I didnt know what on earth I was doing – ideas just started to come to me, along with the next step of action. I trusted the unknown and just like that unexpected magic started happening.
Kiki , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I started young as a dancer . yes..a strip club, which led me to want to learn pole tricks, I got addicted to training then in pursuit of getting stronger I started to cross train with different aerial arts and athletics. This led me into a different world of performing outside of the strip club in 2010.
After a severe rib injury I couldn’t do what I loved but after some time taken to heal I missed performing so I started go go dancing – and even though I loved and enjoyed it so much I always felt something was missing so years later I set up my pole again and started training again this time my passion ignited stronger then ever before and this led me to find a studio I can train at to excel and keep motivated – little did I know at this studio – Sankalpa I would meet an entire community of creative minds, friends, talents that would be so closely involved in everything to come.
Our shows officially started in may of 2021 – The crew I chose was very diverse and inclusive, highly skilled in various of arts as well as VERY talented. We sold out and… It was the best feeling in the world! The magic and energy that unfolded the night of was unlike anything I’ve ever experienced before at any event in my entire life! There were patrons hanging on things to watch the show, patrons standing on chairs cheering, dancing literally going wild, the venue at full capacity!- Words cannot express the energy in that space – as well as the energy we felt with the feedback! Pure magic this experience was a true onset to so many ideas and something special.
From there on out the creativity and passion just kept growing! We started having more auditions and our troupe started growing. Each show following we got more wild our creative energy started popping off like a fire work! What you see and experience at a Kiki sinister presents show is unlike anything you will see anywhere!
We truly strive to make our audience feel as if they are a part of the event – and show denver that talent and sexiness comes in all forms! The world has been a rollercoaster and we truly bring light and a fun place everyone from all walks of life can feel welcomed, safe and have a good time!
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Some of the most rewarding aspects with these magical productions are being able to give a platform to artists that come from all walks of life, all body types, genders, ages, identities, and arts a space to creatively express themselves – and with this yes our shows get crazier each time!
The beauty of unity in having my troupe members come from so many different training grounds / dance studios – come together and bring an experience and smiles to all of our patrons that come to our events.
Observing the unity within even our patrons, strangers seated together becoming friends, seeing people who would never go to a burlesque show become regulars that don’t want to miss the next one.
Having the opportunity to create a beautiful experience that makes everyone feel included whether they are a patron or performer, no matter what walk of life they come from both in the crowd and on stage – The energy that is cultivated at an event – is seriously magic that words can’t even describe.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
One of my main goals is to be able to grow and expand our events not only within our city but to other states.
I also want to set a new standard on how performers are treated – being a performer for so long I have seen the dark side of this – which has led me to decline so many “opportunities” from people who dont value the hard work put into their entertaining.
I want to show that beauty and sexy really does come in all forms – I want to inspired people who question if they are enough to know they are beyond enough
